5.7 engines starting to come in with head gasket fails

    Great guy with intelligence.

    he is getting a lot more tundras and GX and LX and Landcruiser 5.7 engine with blown head gaskets.
    And if the block is warped out of spec it’s a new block and labor and other parts at $22k.
    Most of these vehicles are higher mileage and not worth putting $22K into because they are not worth that much.
    His suggestion is to change radiator fluid or antifreeze every 50K.

    If we were 3rd gen owners - we'd cry about:

    1. Toyota hasn't said there is a head gasket problem so this is just internet speculation.

    2. it's an old video that has been discussed here at length.

    3. changing the coolant every 50k is already part of Toyotas recommended maintenance.

    4. you don't even own a 2nd / 2.5 gen. Your presence in this section of the forum is a result of your deep rooted jealousy towards 2nd / 2.5 gen owners.

    Toyota's claim to fame way back in the day was head gaskets, even the ol 22RE, the most reliable thing ever made.

    10 yrs we'll all be driving 3rd gens the 2nd gens will still be going strong like the 1st gens today
    Imo I'll be surprised if theirs's a 4th gen na tundra

    I too hope yours and all the other 3rd genners trucks don't blow. I was just commenting in regards to how absurdly low the bar is at times when 3rd Genners tout their number of trouble free miles.

    Could you imagine getting on a forum in 2010 to boast about how reliable your 2008 Tundra was with a whopping 30,000 miles? The 1st Gen owners would have a field day

    for sure, that said these haven’t been out long so there really isn’t many trucks with a lot of miles as far as Toyota standards go for a lot of miles, so we’ll see what happens when the mass of trucks gets up there. Could be great, could be ugly

    I’m a 1st gener, 2nd gener, 2.5 gener, and 3rd gener., so im immune to all, ha!

    one of my favs was my 2001 trd. Luxury sport access cab, thunder grey. I also had one of the very first tundra out the in late 99 as a 2000, as my old man was pretty high up in Toyota motor distributions.

    sounds fun to me

    We had the MR2 with toyota charger on it and also the newer one with the turbo back in the day, fun for sure. also the TT supras we had.

    toyota isnt new to this, well see how it plays out.

    I still have the original supra TT t-shirt and dealer brochure in the basement with a big stop watch on it and 0-60 in 4.6 on it

    that was fast back then, damn used to smoke mustangs and comaros , etc.

    loved that short throw 6 speed manual in those
