In today’s installment of I Should Have Taken the Stairs…

Get into the elevator with a lady. She not wearing any bluetooth and has both hands balancing her lunch from the cafeteria. Suddenly she chuckles and says “The button just flew off”.

And I subconsciously dropped my right hand to my Spiderco…

 

not yet sir. Part of why I havent been around much.... applying like crazy, focusing on my son and trying not to overthink not having a job.

I know, it made me chuckle!

 

Yes, can feel bad for the family. Even if he was a spoiled brat no one should ever have to bury their own child.

Still gonna like cuz 99% of the time the asshole walks away from death and carnage. Then we have to see pictures of him “breaking down” during the trial.

 

Tis why I don’t own or will ever own a bike. I’d punch my ticket quickly…

 

On a happier note, one year with the truck tomorrow. Do still miss my Tundra…except when towing

Story from work earlier this week.
Came in and Supervisor was talking with a couple guys and I could tell the mood was really somber.
Apparently his son's (roughly 20-21) best friend had been in a near fatal m/c accident just minding his own business. Wearing full gear.
Had been out on a ride, made it all the way to the turnoff at the county road right in front of his home, turning left into his driveway.
Some jackwagon came up from behind and passed on the left (later estimated at 50 mph) as he was turning left and barely moving.
Full-on T-boned him and sent him and the bike flying.
Shattered left leg, ultimately amputated below the knee. Left arm broken multiple places, collarbone, etc. Every rib broken, stomach shuffled around out of position. (Didn't know that was a thing.)
I'm assuming there had to be some level of internal bleeding. Have not heard about any type of concussion or TBI. He was wearing a helmet.
His dad was mowing the lawn when it happened and heard the crash. Said it sounded like a gunshot; CRACK!
Dad was first on the scene. I can't imagine.

This happened last Saturday. He's still in the hospital but thankfully expected to recover fully.

 

The last of a bushel. My daughter brought some VA oysters down, which are much better than NC oysters.

 

And stick it?

 

We caught a call like this a few weekends ago. Residential neighborhood, 25-35 mph zone at most, dude on a bagger with no lid hits the curb and rolls it it doing maybe 60-70 per witnesses. EMS took 2 of my guys, one driving, one in the back with them. Not a real high chance of survival based on injuries. Sucks for the family either way.

The bike accidents talk reminded me of this. The stats she brings up are interesting... and she's not hard on the eyes, either.
