You keyboard warriors crack me up. All these long posts really just tell me you’re insecure or have the little man syndrome and pretty much want buyers of all the 3rd gen’s to be unhappy or regret their purchase. Unlike you, I’ve owned a 3rd gen first hand and have owned a 2020 sr5 trd off-road 4x4. This current gen tundra is leaps and bounds in capability above the last gen. The powertrain is more suited for truck duty as it makes its power lower in the rpm band which is what you want for towing and hauling. This gen can tow more, haul more, and is a much more comfortable and quiet ride. I could care less about the V8 sound as I have little ones and a wife still in bed when I leave for work in the morning. Keep running your mouth though as it is very entertaining! It just makes me even happier of my purchase and reassures me that you’re feeling insecure by having to shitpost in every 3rd gen thread.

my buddy works for Toyota hq in Plano as an engineer directly under Sheldon brown (chief engineer for tundra Tacoma) he told me they didn’t make the clearance tight enough when they did the r&d for the engine up in Michigan and that’s the real reason for the failure not the machining debris lie

As has been said earlier, this case has not been diagnosed as a failure caused by debris and mass failings of 2025 engines or replacement blocks are not happening so this is not an indication of anything yet.

Still no statement about why the simple “debris issue” hasn’t been fixed in 7 years or an explanation why new trucks are still eating bearings after 5 public statements that the issue has been fixed.

So, it's not Alabama's fault like Winchester 44 or Remington 55 or whatever his name was said it was. it's Michigan's fault! As a Buckeye, I love saying that.

So is waiting for my replacement engine (Phase 7, TBD) as I continue to make road trips to Florida and back.... fingers crossed the entire way. ;-). Also looking to trade for a 2025 to "buy" myself out of the recall, even though I don't have super high confidence that this issue has been totally corrected in current builds. But still more confidence than going back to GM.

Judging by the deep dive into the V35A in the above video, the front main bearing can and apparently does walk forward, partially blocking the oil gallery and starving that bearing of oil.
And it’s always that main bearing, free to walk forward at random with no lock tab to prevent this.

I do think it weird they don't put locating tabs on the bearings.

In a bit of fairness, it's unlikely they were looking at the issue for 7 years. Until the 3rd gen Tundra started leaving the lot there was a much smaller sample size for this issue. Easy to think of those as more "one off" situations and go about your day. I doubt the real engineers started investigating seriously until the Tundra failures started to become a trend. As someone who troubleshoots issues for a living, it's pretty easy to mostly shrug off an issue until it becomes "a thing". Even when deploying a fix, it may only work for some, or work in testing but fail in production. It can take time to fully fix an issue. I'm not saying there is NO design flaw, but if the failure rate continues to lower into historical average territory, then it becomes a non-issue in the eyes of Toyota. After this drama we will always point when a 3.4TT fails, even if it's just one out of a million. In your defense, the procedures and machines used to produce the product are still part of the overall design, so even if it was only cleaning debris then somebody's design didn't work well enough.

I'd like to see the CCN do this to a recent build engine to see if there have been any changes to those bearings. Maybe the OP can sneak his busted motor out of the garage and send it to him. But I bet Toyota will be guarding that like a state secret.
