I was searching for a rattle coming from under my truck when I discovered that the nuts and bolts on my Catalytic Converter Heat Shield were corroded and falling off. Additionally, I noticed that one of the Catalytic Converter Heat Shields on another Cat was completely missing. I replaced the nuts and bolts on the one vehicle, but now I’m searching for a replacement for the other Cat. Should I not be concerned about this or should I replace the Catalytic Converter Heat Shield? I’ve conducted some research, but I haven’t been able to find a suitable replacement. Any assistance or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

One of mine has been off awhile, the other is secured with screws and speed nuts. Unless you'll be parking in high, dry, grass, I wouldn't be concerned...

Or if you have to unexpectedly pull over and it winds up in tall grass... Replace it. So many fires start from hot exhausts. Your truck will burn up and you'll be responsible for any damages to the property and suppression costs, especially if you knew that your truck had a faulty part that may have helped prevent it.
