Last few summers I have noticed the same thing. There have been days where the sun on my skin has felt almost painful... nothing like the 70a-80s-90s ever did.
Our magnetosphere is supposed to be getting weaker right? Maybe it's letting in more of the high-energy particles.
Could just be that I'm old, and soft, and can't remember perfectly. Or that I'm pale from spending too much time sitting on this forum.:pccoffee:

As I've gotten older, I've noticed that if I spray my skin with mosquito spray then go into the sun, after 15 mins or so it starts to feel like a sunburn. It's not, but it feels like it til I wash it off. Doesn't happen if it's not sunny.

I thought the same about maybe just age, but I work with some Mexicans and i noticed one of them got sunburned yesterday too, so I think it’s stronger.
I used to leave stuff on my dash but never had anything there literally melt until 3 years ago so there is that too, which makes me think it’s not just my age.

I couldn’t live like that. You sound like I’d be confined to indoors if I’d want to go for a run or long walk in the summer.

Common. I have to pull the dash and install some custom plates I had made to replace the vents. It’ll also sandwich the vinyl to keep it down. Considering the condition mints near mint compared to some

You do stuff early or late. I'm basically done working on my cars till late September w/o a garage. Same with riding motorcycles. Probably not driving the truck either since the AC doesn't work good enough.

Edit: here's a screenshot of August from last year. I hate summer.

    You just do it.
I’m usually out in it all day working, rain, shine, hot, or freezing cold.
And I hate working in the rain. Tools get put up when raining though.

Here on the wet side of oregon, we get about 3 months of warm weather a year. The other 9 months is pretty much pants, jacket, and a beanie cap. So when it gets hot, i fully embrace it. Back in 2021 we had staggering record high temps in portland, so i had to take full advantage of it. At 4pm i was out on a 6 mile run along the waterfront. Just short running shorts, no shirt, and sunglasses and i let it rip. It was 117 degrees out. The outsole on my shoes melted off. I also went for an another 6 mile run the next day in 116 degree weather. Looking back, i think i was the only person out there running at the time.

Shiiiiiit. At least y'all get down to the lower 70's and high 60's at night with low humidity.

Last night was 90% humidity and 80°F in Pearland.

This happens to me also, but only for products with DEET.

I’ve also found that using a skin lotion with SPF of 50 is a hell of a lot easier on my skin (and eyes, when you really get swearing) than using sun block. Super Goop is what I’ve been using lately, but Oil of Olay has some stuff (both scent less) that works well too.

And the last couple of years, I swear it actually is getting way hotter. I’ve started using the khaki kayaking/fishing hats with the neck curtain when I’m working out in the yard or anywhere I’ll catch sun. That and a light layer of lotion kills virtually all sun, as long as I reapply lotion every other hour.

Dude, I have a garage, and it’s partially earthen on the sides, but the truck barely fits, so I can’t get in front of it while parked inside. So I still hafta open the door, back the truck out, and fight the heat. At least it’s covered, but unless I’ve got a fan going, I’m dying from stale and humid air.

Summer south of the Mason Dixon sucks, no matter how you slice it. But I’d rather suffer through it than deal with having to jam all your work into a 16-week period w/o freezing like some of our northern pals.

Walk-in AC high (mid?) rise topper in silver, priced too high at $1,500 for something that I don’t think is supported on parts anymore from ARE, but …

Another day, another nail. Wife’s JGC this time (again?) roofing nail. Drove to Florida and back on this one with the pump and tire repair kit in the car. Lost 3psi the whole trip. Fixed it uponce returning home in the shade of the garage. New front struts and new tires coming next month. Billie 5100s on the way for the front. Rears already got new Nivomets last year. Getting some Cooper ATs in 275/55/20 all around. Adding a roof basket too. Trying to keep momma interesting in it until we can buy her a new one.

Dude... I hope you're keeping track of how many nails per year you pick up. o_O
It's gotta be a record. Rivaled only by the security truck I used to drive in the chemical plant. They switched from kevlar to normal tires when the budget ran out one year, and I swear they lost money overall. Because it had a flat at least once a month

You can't beat those tire plugs. I've never paid for a flat repair in my life, other than the plug kits.

Legit concern. 3 year old tire near the end of it's mileage service life. Some of the edges of the tread have reached the wear indicators, the centers have not and have some room left before getting into them.

Do you always trust 4wd badges regardless of them not specifically listing it? Not something I would overlook.
