Without going into a detailed story. I’m wondering if anyone has replaced front struts via UCA removal from knuckle vs the typical removal of LBJ bolts from knuckle? Pretty straight forward? Would only need to be done on pass side

Just installed new coilovers and UCAs on my '18 last weekend. Used this video to walk me thru the coilover install without having to deal with the lowers. It should work for you. It is pretty straight forward.

This is what I watched last week as well. I'll be using this for reference when I do mine.

You just bought new/used ones on here, right? You're replacing with OEM?

I'm reusing the tops on the OEM set. Looking to get eibach stage 1 shocks and struts.

Yeah that’s how I’ve done it 3 or 4 times now; unbolt the UCA ball joint from the spindle and just rotate the spindle to the side; super simple and quick; you might need a big pry bar to push the UCA back down to get the ball joint bolted back into place

Does this route require stabilizer link bolt to be removed?

I didn’t think you could use any other coils with Eibach but Eibachs? If you realize you can’t I am replacing my eibachs and will have coils with 50k miles on them if you need them
I also have a pair of NIB eibach pro sport struts that are used in the stage 1 setup if you’re interested

Oh I'm not reusing the coils, just the top. Sorry, I misspoke. You are correct. As for your Eibach pro sports struts do they come with Eibach springs and are they the same ones that come in the full setup (i.e. https://www.shocksurplus.com/produc...udzXz9cYbgVwC2JvVcTdHvDAHQL3s2DKU1O1R6C5Yf4MY).

Send me a PM. I don't want to highjack the thread.

Yes, you won’t be able to push the LCA down enough to get the shock out if that’s still bolted in place

I did it this way recently when installing new coilovers. Pretty simple and definitely need to unbolt the outer tie rod from the knuckle. I’d also recommend unbolting the speed sensor/abs brackets from the knuckle just to give them some slack.

It still required some leverage on the lower arm to get the new coilover in there. Someone posted in another thread about ratchet strapping the lower arms together to help with installing the lower shock bolt which I didn’t see until after but would definitely work well.

All in all it was fairly simple to go this route.
