Retainer clips don't fit on caliper. Can I simply go without them?

Doing my rotors and brakes and would you believe it, they sent the wrong size retainer clips. And unfortunately I destroyed the last ones when getting them off because I didn't except this. I really don't have any other choice but to go without for the mean time. I'll get some from the store soon enough, but in the mean time will I be fine without them?

Wish you were closer, I have a spare pair. You only need one per side. Are you sure they're the wrong size? I've never seen them do that.

You destroyed them? Like broke them? If they aren't broken, they're just wire, they can be bent back into shape.

I think you're talking about the spring clip that holds the pad pins in? Maybe post some pictures. I don't think I would feel good about driving anywhere without the clips. After all, they're called "retaining clips" for a reason: To retain something in place. Not safe without. IMO.

I think he's talking about the anti-vibration clips, the mousetrap looking things.

Ah. That's a different story. @StrawberryBlowpopPrincess some pictures of what you're talking about would give you a definitive answer.

Thank you, I took your advice. Spent about 30 minutes trying to force the new ones in and never got them even close to correct position. Took my old ones and did my best to bend and snap them back into place. It’s not perfect, but nothing is ever really “perfect” in life.
Also I wanted to ask, i Did the brake pad break in that was suggested to me. Is it normal to smell something coming from new pads/rotors? Almost smelt like hot/fresh asphalt
