Always had State Farm since I was 16. Now 30yo with 1 at fault accident and 3 speeding tickets. I’ve tried quotes from Allstate, Progressive, and Geico, all were more expensive than State Farm.

    Bodily injury: $500k/$250k
    Property damage: $100k
    Glass deductible $0
    Comprehensive coverage $0
    Collision $100

    22 Tundra $480/6 months
    14 lancer Evo $538/6 months

This was after their rate increase in May too.

Slight tear on my left shoulder muscle/tendon, left wrist is bothering me 24/7...especially when I drive and it hurts to grab/carry stuff. $25k repair bill. 17yr old driver in a newer Hyundai just blew the stop. His parents are in for a treat...he hit another car (newer mustang) after I spun him out....were both suing him/his insurance.

Funny, I was with AAA for 20 years and they just kept going up up up and they wouldn't help at all to reduce my premiums. They also wanted all of my daughter's personal info when she was 15 because she would be a "future driver". When I refused to give it to them under privacy principles, the relationship went south.

I’ve had Geico, USAA, Wawanesa, AAA, and now I have Connect through Costco. Connect is probably the cheapest out of all of these and they offer some of the best coverage!

Literally everyone is going to be different. Way too many variables, so just shop around, and ensure you are getting the coverage you want. Some quotes might be cheaper because coverage is worse.

I actually have Safeco for my home owners, but Liberty Mutual for my auto insurance. I shop around at least once a year.

My biggest complaint and what f*cks up my quotes every time, is that I have a Pitbull mix at home. I get denied home owners quotes constantly because of that. 10 years of no bite history, but it doesn't matter. Some companies just say no and I have to move on. It's annoying.

So, just want to put this out there.
Half of the time, it doesn't matter if your record is "clean", most rates are based on what the general area is facing.
So, let's say if Houston has 250 car accidents a day and 50 of those are Ford, 100 Toyota, 100 Others, and also maybe consider sub-models, it will raise the prices for those specific models/MY.

Also, the newer the vehicle, insurance view them as high cost items, meaning, if you get into an accident tomorrow (sorry....) and the repair is $40K, but the truck is worth $65K new, insurance needs to shell out that amount to make you right, and depending on who's at fault, the other party's vehicle as well.

I have seen, though can't prove it, that if you had a non-at fault claim with A company, trying to quote with them will result in higher premium, the thinking might be like, we had to pay this guy $X, now it is time to make it back. Of course, they will deny those accusation, but numbers and paying insurance companies just line up too much to ignore.

So auto insurance rates would come in two folds, you and general market.
You can be as clean as white paper, but if the general market sucks, yea, you are gonna get sucker punched.

Also, don't bundle if you can, yes, there may seem to be discounts, but in the long run, insurance companies are out to make money, not lose money.
Getting a broker would be ideal, given they usually have more than three on hand to compare (I have four, but Geico has been my go-to lately, not sure why)
Or, do it yourself, takes a bit more time, but you don't have to disclose your information to a third party (some are concerned and those are well noted.)

Auto insurance, unlike home insurance, most don't have loyalty to any companies, whoever is cheaper wins the contract. It's cut throat market and if a company can make $100 per 6 month contract, they considered it good.
Home insurance, on the other hand, trends seems to be if you are with certain company for a while, they are usually cheaper, especially if your area has been hit with natural disaster. You may not sustain damages nor claim, but your general area did, so those play into factor, too.

There is a whole list of certain breed of dogs that would automatically trigger a "no" due to general history of said breed. Pitbull, unfortunately, is on that list.

That’s exactly how I feel they operate. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. And throw in blaming insurance fraud, hit and runs, non paying customers and they have excuses to raise everyone else’s rates.

I just did Costco quote and they wanted double what progressive offers of 1670 for 6 months

And for good reasons. I wouldn't want to have my dog bitten and then have the neighbor be:
"oh, but she's such a sweet baby, we rescued her and she's been always sweet and never done anything violent before!"

Oh I know, and I hate that lol. Never mind that a 40 pound collie was was an aggressor that put a hole in my 95 pound Pitbulls leg, but it's my dog that's the problem. Sorry, I hate insurance companies lol; nothing personal if you sell insurance, which is sounds like you do. I have worked with a local broker who was great, but it's just always a fight with companies.

No offense taken. I feel you the same, those list are not fair, and most dogs are friendly and they only actively attack because they are provoked, but insurance companies are not out to find out how good a boi your dog may be, but general take will be they are bitches and will eat you alive.... Now, chihuahua is NOT on that list. Try explain why the devil is not on that list!

And yet every dog can bite. I know it's all about risk, but proven bite records should be more relevant than breed. I've watched my nearly 100 pound pit yelp and run away after getting bit by a dog half his size who put a hole in his leg. Yet I'm sure that household doesn't have a problem with their home owner policy because border collies and sweethearts!

Haha yup. I've been nibbled on my a chihuahua before too. Asshole little dogs at times, but of course I understand the damage ratio is quite low!

Trust me, I had that little bastard before, the only way to make it acknowledge your superior, is to be bad-ass-er than him/her. I had to do that for it to obey me..... I bite that bastard once, and it learned its lesson, and my take away is, damn, them short fur is too rough and not enough meat on the bone to eat....blah.....

Another chihuahua bite victim survivor here. Those dogs are in the league of their own. Possessed by the devil himself.

I had an insurance person tell me you need to shop around at least once every 3 years. I had State Farm for 35 years and tried to get them to help me reduce my costs. They said there was no way. I ended up going with progressive and save $1K per year on auto and went to an independent agent for homeowners

Everyone in CA is laughing at the shop around statement. It's quickly becoming a desolate insurance wasteland where no one can get homeowners insurance privately. Everyone is being forced on to the CA Fair Plan. Which is anything but fair and very expensive.
