Hi all, after changing from the '22 Platinum to a '25 Limited this weekend, I got slapped in the face by insurance premiums and I'm wondering if there are any out there that you like?

I'm with Safeco right now, no accidents, no personal claims, no tickets...nothing that should show me as being a liability risk. I'm 54 years old, live in Texas with a squeaky clean record. Safeco wants $2240/year to insure this truck with full coverage and $1K deductible. Is that insane or am I just old and cheap?

Note: the '22 was owned by my business and I had commercial insurance. I didn't need that any longer so purchased this vehicle personally and insuring personally.

    Any advice would be great.

That sure sounds high. I would be talking to an insurance broker asap.

My ins plan is similar to yours my status is 100% clean same as my wife, we both have trucks and the total is $1,830.

I was under the impression that ins is also based on population too.

    **Edit**

Any Texas folks on here with advice?

Trying to find a broker right now.

You should look at Progressive. I shop around every year and they have historically been the cheapest. I've had GEICO too and was in an accident when I had them. They were very easy to work with after the accident and rates didn't go up. However, Progressive has just been more cost effective. Unfortunately I can't provide you any input on cost as I drive a 2nd gen. Our policy for two second gen's 2014/2020 and two drivers is ~$1900.

StateFarm in Texas, but its very automated, and helps if you have an experienced, honest sales rep. Allstate mega jacked rates on coastal adjacent residents and the Allstate corporate system is quite inadequate although it is represented as a premium insurer, so I dropped them. I'n not all that pleased with StateFarm either, but at least is affordable. I'd consider the Costco option and searching for more options also, based on other drivers feedback so far.

Thanks, I'm going to contact Costco and explore it again. I looked about 6 months ago, but I have 2 kids at college and they said that they wouldn't insure them under my policy since they didn't reside at my primary address. I may explore just putting them on their own policy and see what that looks like.

We've been with State Farm for somewhere around 40 years. No hassles with claims (a few car claims, and a homeowner's claim when a kid ran into our house), and the agent is local and helpful.

If you don't own a home then it's easy. Get a bunch of quotes. Which is cheaper is not universal and depends on a lot of personal valuables.

Look online every big company has similiar ratings and reviews. You can find this insurance sucks on them all. Hard to really find out what you got until you file a claim.

If you are bundling harder because house quotes are more questions up front and the websites tend to assume vary widely on assumed replacement value of the home. So apples to apples comparisons are harder. 90% of time the homeowners has driven my decision.

I have progressive since 2010. 840 for me and the wife for 6 months. 440 is for me. Not too bad I guess. Now homeowner insurance, that’s a whole nother beast

Yeah; homeowners is a requirement as well. @Randy Morton, State Farm was my preference for years, but we moved to Arkansas for 5 years and when we moved back in 2002, they wouldn't write new policies because the black mold scares back then. I've tried them since and they're just so outrageous on the premiums. Seems like its better if you have a history with them like you do.

If you need both brings it down to the usual suspects. Alot of the auto only like Geico sub you to 3rd parties for homeowners and that usually is a steep quote.

I was with Allstate a number of years. But to get their max discounts you had to pay for a full year no credit card via autopay which was touchy if you wanted to change the draw account. I finally switched to State Farm which you pay it your way: by the month, all at once, credit card/check , whatever you want without forfeiting discounts

Yup. Everything through State Farm right now. Investigated Progressive a few years ago and miraculously the auto quote was $500 cheaper. But after waiting for a week for them to get the rest of the quote for homeowners, boat, jewelry, etc. It was a lot more than State Farm.

Forgot to mention that the other party's insurance for my accident. Kid's parents have Allstate and they too have been amazing to deal with. They accepted responsibility and are not giving me a hard time about any of my mods. Not much they can argue with this vid though

I own a 2020 BMW M340i and a 2025 Ford F-150 Raptor and my insurance premium is ~ $1900 every 6 months with Progressive....in California which is arguably the worst for everything.

I pay $1300 a year for three vehicles all full coverage 500 deductible. 250/500 coverage with Progressive.

    13 Avalon

I learned something very valuable when I renewed last Fall. STOP BUNDLING. I shopped my home and my cars separately. Cut my insurance cost down to 1/2 of what I was paying by putting vehicles with Progressive and home with Allstate. It was even cheaper than Costco. Also go to small agent who is only authorized to rep one good company like Allstate. They are hungry to get new customers. You can set up Progressive online.

I pay 436 per month, but I have pretty high coverages that most don't and an umbrella policy included in that for a total of 2 million.

    2016 GMC 3500HD
    2021 Roush Mustang
    2022 Subaru Crosstrek Limited
    2011 Toyota Corolla S

Insurance in CO is stupid high though due to the influx of people and the hail.

I flop back and fourth every 3-4 years between Geico and Progressive. Roughly $ 2,400.00 yearly for a 2023 Honda, 2017 Camaro SS and the 2025 Tundra. Cheapest in my state but yours might be different.
