Im looking at putting a 6" lift on my truck. What would be a better option? A readylift kit from the dealership or a BDS lift from a local shop. What are the differences in quality? The price is pretty comparable for the 2. Just switched from an 06 f-150 with a 6" fabtech lift to my 2018 platinum crew max. It sits on 35×12.5×20 A/T's

Can’t comment on BDS lifts as far as personal experience but I know they make an awesome lift. I have a 6” ready lift on my tundra with 35x12.5x20’s. IMG_1223.jpg

I have the BDS lift with 37's and love it. Rides very well, 4 years in with no issues.

I have a 6" ReadyLift w/no complaints. The real test is the installation - if not doing it yourself, make sure the installer knows what he's doing.

I kept rubbing w/35s but I had neg offset wheels. Ended up installing Fox coils up front w/another 1.5-2" of lift then 37s. No problems.

The shop that I'm going through is very reputable and knowledgeable. They did say I might need the sbc uca's because of the offset with the ready lift.

    I'd recommend the BDS.
On my 2009 DC, I have the 4.5" BDS with 35x12.5 and it's been excellent.
If I remember correctly, they offer optional shackles to lift the rear an additional 1" which provides just enough rake.

Here's the before and after pics. Went with the 6" ready lift. I'm loving the way she rides and looks!

I get that all the time.
But I havent done a thing to it as far as lifting it goes.
If it was lifted it had to have been done by the dealer before I bought it.
But nothing was ever mentioned when I bought it.
And looking at the suspension there's nothing to make me think thats the case.
Whatever the truth may be I'm really happy with the end result.

C'mon now... that's obviously got some suspension work done.
How about posting a few shots of the top of the strut where the spacer is installed... and the block and extra long ubolts holding the rear axle to the leaf springs.

Post some pics of the suspension. Plenty here will know exactly which lift you have. It's definitely lifted.
My truck has 2.5" in the front, 1.75" in the rear. Yours sits higher.

    I'll take some pics menyanna....
From what I've been able to find there's no lift involved.
Of course I could be wrong.
But I definitely didnt have anything to do with it.
    Gonna be interesting either way.

I wanna guess it's going to be a drop bracket lift. They could appear stock if you don't know what you're looking at.

The thing that makes me think I had nothing to do with it is the price.
I've never been charged for a lift of any kind.
And we both know that Shit ain't Free!!!

They can actually hurt resale value in cases. Especially drop bracket lifts. They can't be converted back easily or cheap.

    ^ This right here...
Safe bet the truck was purchased used. The dealer doesn't want to advertise that the truck has been modified in any way.
Not good for business due to liability reasons as well as avoiding any customers requesting that it be un-lifted.
... or the used car dealer is a dope and just didn't realize it's lifted.

    Like i said.
    I bought the Truck New.
The dealer would have had to modify it which seems unlikely.

In a lot of cases you're buying someone else's problem.

    Something doesn't smell right.
Truck was purchased new ... with aftermarket wheels & tires, aftermarket fender flares, aftermarket rear bumper, and aftermarket steps?
... how were all these extras listed on the window sticker? Maybe a dealer supplied "Offroad Package" +$5000?
Because that thing would look goofy as hell with stock Toyota wheels and tires.

I never said I didnt add the tires, wheels, flares and bumper.
The only way it could have been lifted is if the dealer did it.
Which again seems unlikely, but I cant count it out.
If they did I have to say they did a fine job of it since I've had zero issues with it.

Hmmmmm.....I may be having a senior moment.
Looking at the pic of my Truck straight from the dealer and it does indeed look like it's been lifted.
Weird, because i have no recollection of having it lifted.
And I couldnt tell you where I had it lifted!!!
I have to think the dealer did it.
I'm checking with Upper Management (The Wife) to see if She remembers me having it done because I sure as Hell dont.
Now I'm definitely going to take a look!!!

Okay,Upper Management just got back with me.
She said I never got it lifted.
But I have to think she's having a senior moment as well.
It's just weird that both of us have no recollection of me having my Truck lifted.
And since She's the Banker(literally)She would most likely remember the the outflow of cash if I had it lifted and She wouldnt have been to happy about it.

    ... and another question you should be asking yourself;
When you purchased your aftermarket wheels and tires, what made you think that you could fit a 35" tire on your "non-lifted" Tundra?
Perhaps you're not remembering the part where the off-road shop that sold you the tires installed and charged you for a 5" lift kit?
    (I'm definitely being catfished)
