Here she is.. 2004 Tundra Limited 4.7L V8. 159k with frame rust, doesn’t seem to have gone too much further than surface scale. No lights on the dash.IMG_5924.jpg IMG_5929.jpg IMG_5917.jpg IMG_5915.jpg IMG_5921.jpg IMG_5914.jpg

Not enough pics of the right places to really get a bead on the rust situation, but it’s heavy scale on the suspension bits up front and outer frame rails. That usually equals trouble for the inner rear frame braces at the overlaps and X brace over spare. Front frame boxed sections are areas of concern as well. Rear axles are hit or miss as they sometimes get hosed down periodically by owners since it’s visible. But rear axle diff “cover” is the thinnest metal portion and is a problem area as well.

I will update in the next day or two with some better angles, I was trying to snap a few quick before it started raining. I have been reading a lot of threads dealing with frames and recall.

Went to start knocking the scale off the frame before wire brushing and got a nasty surprise. What looks like good metal is actually just a spray coating. It rusted from the inside out. I pulled back the spray layer and just kept picking until I went all the way through. Not sure if I’ll need a frame swap or if it can be repaired..
