TRD running boards - Too Narrow ?

Hey Guys,

So, I traded in my 2022 Tundra SR5 (leased at the time) for a 2024 1794 (bought). I'll Share Pictures once I'm done making her mine...

Now back to the topic, it came with TRD pre-installed running boards, but they are narrow as F****. Well, it's not that they are narrow it's that the way they mount it makes the step almost under the door by like an inch. I looked and it doesn't seem like it can be adjusted. I could technically just slide it to the closer screw hole and just use one screw but eventually I can see that being an issue since it will just be sitting one screw.

Has anyone found a way to somehow slide these out with maybe some custom adapter?

Damn, that's exactly what I like about them.

 

^^^ same. I’m tall enough to not have to use them and was always getting dirt/grime on my pants leg from the ones on my Sequoia, that stuck out further.

 

good points…just that my big foot doesnt fit on them. wonder if you could add a riser pad type thing to the bracket so it would lower them down an inch or so, then my foot could slide onto it vs wedging my toe on it

 

I have the TRD boards on mine and love them with my size 14.5 4Es. Best ones I have ever had on any the 4 trucks I have owned.

I hate the stick out a foot look of some others where you look at a truck and all to see is running board.

Maybe they changed with newer ones.

 

It’d be nice if they were adjustable so we can all be happy

 

I just put these on my 25'. Not to narrow at all, you don't want them sticking to far out anyway I would think.

 

On the 2nd gen I had, the door sill at the bottom is straight down and gives you full use of the running board. The bottom of the door on the third gen rolls out over the board and doesn't let you use the whole step area, specially getting out of the truck. When I traded I went to power steps and now have steps I can use and don't have "elephant ears" hanging out the bottom of my truck.

 

We had the same problem. I ditched mine for a set from Rough Country after my wife slipped off them getting in.

 

I run GoRhino RB20s on my 2025 Limited. Love both the form and function. Definitely another option to consider.

 

Hello, will these just extend the running boards outward so your foot has more room? The boards I have are the TRD stock.

 

Are these the ones you bought? Not the slims?

Why I like the retractable running boards. Plenty of width.
