So i noticed something weird about my spray on bed liner. The 2 rear tie downs loops arnt sprayed for some reason. Does any one have this also or should i take it back to toyota and have them spray it? The front ones are sprayed. 20171026_072405.jpg

I’d rather have mine unsprayed than sprayed over incase you ever need to remove it. Most Linex dealers don’t spray them neither.

It just depends on who does it. I've noticed on here that some have them done and some don't. The same goes for the bolts that hold the bed on, some people's are sprayed, some people's aren't.

That is weird but I would prefer none of them to be sprayed. No point to it.

mine are sprayed but the bed bolts are not. I'd rather have the tie downs sprayed to protect from rust/use.

mine are sprayed over, but my bed bolts aren't. I still spray the bolts every once in a while to prevent rust.

I have the "factory" spray on. Fronts are sprayed rears are not. I'm not OCD about this however. And I would not take it back to the dealer to have them sprayed because they are likely to F it up and may cause more problems than its worth. If the color difference bothers you I'd just use adhesion promoter followed by a spritzing from a quality black semi-gloss. Problem is that any coating on hooks is likely to wear off anyway. I wish they were stainless steel.

I was also curious since my 2016 w/ factory spray is like that. maybe its the way manufacturing process flow is and they spray before the back pieces are installed. I wouldn't worry about rust. my 20 years old Tacoma tie downs are still not rusted and they were just painted black.

My "factory" sprayed bed liner was sprayed over the tie downs.

I think it depends on whether the spray on bed liner is installed at a local dealer (such as Linex) or whether it is a distribution center (which I think is where mine was done) or "factory" if there is such a process.

Typically dealers will use a local Line-X shop, at least that's what I have seen working with a local Trailer dealer who also has a Line-X shop he has all the local dealers coming to him for Line-X. They farm it out and factor it into the cost of the truck. Mine is sprayed with everything covered, bed bolts, tie downs, etc. I wish they had done over the rail and covered the plastic bed rails as well. I'm probably going to remove them and have them encapsulated with Line-X like I did with my boat cap. Something about Line-X people don't realize, they can do just about any color now with the top coat. Light colors like white will yellow from the undercoating bleed through but every other color holds up well with no issue. I had my boat cap done in a sea green/blue 3 years ago and it sits outside and still looks like brand new.

I have the factory spray option on my truck and the rear loops aren't sprayed. Maybe by design? It was nice they weren't sprayed when I installed the factory bed extender brackets in the back, since they require the tie down points to be removed/reinstalled.

It varies from dealer to dealer but there is an up-charge because they use the "Premium" top coating to do the color with.

I’m willing to bet it’s nothing but human laziness. The rear ties are easy to remove or mask but the front ones require crawling up there on your knees cause they are hard to reach over the bed side.
Some people are less lazy, so that is why there’s no consistency

My 18 are just as you described. Front two are sprayed, rear two are not. I think it has something to do with using the rear two to mount the bed extender brackets so leaving them bare would make it easier..not 100% but the dealer mentioned something like that.

Its not really a big deal. If anything, I wish they left all 4 untreated.

None of mine are sprayed and neither are the bed bolts. When I took delivery of the truck it was not sprayed. The dealership had the local Line-X company do it.

I suggest that you let them know what your preferences is. That being said I did it with my friend and had him do the whole area and also the tailgate extender.... better safe than sorry

I’ve got a 2016 with the Toyota spray in and they sprayed everything in mine. I get a little obsessed with my truck and having everything finished the same, so I’d take it back to the dealer and make them respect it

In my 2017 the front two are sprayed and the back two are not...weird. I ordered the factory bed rails after I purchased the truck, they should be here Tuesday. How many holes should be present to bolt the bed rails to? It seems like they maybe sprayed over some, but I don't know....
