I’m so unhappy with the state of Colorado for switching back to road salts  Mag chloride was bad enough but the rust development is now ridiculous. Those shocks I had seize up were 3 years and 60k miles old.

On a positive note, Father’s Day was busy. Started out with a park picnic/BBQ with my dad, brother and uncles families with cornhole, squirt guns and plenty of food. We then hit the road around 6:00 pm for Yellowstone. Drove till I felt we’d made a decent dent and pulled into a Walmart for the night to finish the drive tomorrow.

I’ve gotta say, I’m thrilled to death with the OTT tune. Had it done a month ago. My main goal with it was better trans control while towing. The minor extra power has been fun but today justified the tune.

By comparison last year towing our camper from northern Colorado to Macanaghy and back, I averaged 6.5-7 mpg at around 70 miles an hour over relatively flat land. The truck would hang itself in 4th with the torque converter locking and unlocking, sending trans temps into the 220’s.

Today took us north climbing out of Ft. Collins to Laramie and beyond, with much more hills. The truck did much better. It didn’t hang up in 4th gear like before, it actually went into 5th and 6th when it felt necessary on the flatter stretches, and as you can see, even over the hills of Wyoming, the truck managed better mileage at the same speeds. Trans temps stayed in the 200-210° range on the pan and fluctuated as the converter locked and unlocked on hills, but it spent more time locked and unlocked for heavy throttle climbs. Overall much happier. Can’t recommend the tune enough. And good lord, I’d love Wyoming gas prices at home. Filled with midgrade 87 octane for $3.52/gallon before leaving Colorado, but I filled in Casper Wy for $2.77/gallon.

So here’s our sleeping situation for the night, to be continued to Yellowstone tomorrow.

Nice, which option of the ott tune did you go with? I'm hoping to get mine done in the near future. Enjoy your trip! Went to Yellowstone about 2 years ago with the family in early spring when there was still snow on the ground. Would love to go back in warmer temps and enjoy some hiking and outdoorsy stuff.

If you have time to stop at Grand Teton National park on your way to Jellystone, they weather is nice this time of year. These are from String lake, which is just down the road from Jenny Lake. Great views.

I second that! I don't think we made it to that lake or not but I know we were at Jenny lake.

Should be awesome in Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Was there in mid-June the summer of 2023. A little rainy and chilly at times but early enough in the season where crowds were manageable. Highly recommend stopping at Jackson Lake Lodge and if possible do their rafting trip that includes lunch on the river before the trip.

Oh man..that sucks. I don't know anything about the Stinger, but was looking at the Daisata. Mainly because of price and the features, but this is another example I have seen of them "crapping out". Guess I will look elsewhere!

I went with the medium/medium spicy as he described it. Medium feels like stock tow/haul and then with tow/haul it opens it up a bit more. The extra power and trans control is great with the camper.

Ours is a Coleman LightLX 2125BH which has an empty weight of about 4400 lbs, plus all the crap from your average family of 4. I’d guess we’re 5000-5200 lbs.

I think my girlfriend trimmed down the itinerary this time, we’re just doing Yellowstone from my memory. Originally we were going to do Teton as well while we were up here but we had to trim the trip down a little bit due to work and vacation availability.

We just got back from the Tetons/Yellowstone. If you are looking for wildlife, we had pretty good luck close to the NE entrance.

    Too many mods to come
Pallet 1 of parts ready to head to @snivilous for the revamp. New kings arrive later today. Still waiting on Rcv’s and the new rear bedcage, 4.0 shocks, and bumps. Carbon rear fenders I’m sure I’ll see later this year.

Stock, with a few cosmetic mods.
Pulled off my step bars which were getting a bit shabby. As soon as the powder coating flakes off they rust immediately. I sanded down whatever needed it and gave them two coats of Eastwoods Rust Encapsulator Plus. Claimed to be matte black finish but its got plenty of gloss to it! I love Eastwoods finishes, been using them for years. Maybe next week I’ll remove my Wilco Spare Tire Carrier and refinish that and the hitch?
