Ugh, I can smell the stale smoke just looking at it. Everywhere I ever saw those as a kid always had smoking and it stunk to high heaven.

I guess I'm kind of glad for that. It made it so repulsive that I never picked up the habit, even when I wanted to.

People who smoke are some of the most entitled people on the planet. In my previous two jobs they always made sure that the smokers got a break, people who smoke will blow the smoke literally right in your face and not think about it, and they throw cigarette butts everywhere. (Obviously there are exceptions but overall that seems to be the case)

(waxes nostalgic) - - Bowling alleys. The smell of stale beer and cigarette soaked sleazy middle aged drunk cougars.

I smoked for 12 years. 28 years after quitting I still know I smoked. Be glad you never did.

Yeah, Mom smoked for 40+ years. I saw what it did to her. Very glad I never did.

Yes. She was on a league. Had to sit at the alley on more than one occasion while she bowled.

My Pops was a smoker. Never smoked a cigarette in my entire life. None of my brothers did either. Never even wondered what it would feel like to smoke a cigarette.

Not trying to be judgemental but I always found it to be a disgusting habit. I'm amazed that young people smoke these days...

I know it's gross. Stress and anxiety have nearly driven me to both smoke and drink, but so far I've avoided both.

As a 30+ year smoker (clean almost 10yrs) I pretty much agree with everything you say. The biggest one for me are the douche bags that smoke around children. I don't understand it's illegal to smoke pretty much near anything public but it's ok to sit on the couch or in a car next to a three year old and puff away

Like GZ, I grew up in a smoker's house. Mom smoked all her life as far as I know. I remember once she mailed me some bath towels for Xmas. And they smelled like smoke. I never told her I tossed them after multiple attempts at washing them and they still had that nasty ass stank infiltrating my nostrils.

Life is hard. It's why I do my best to not judge others as I have never walked a step in their shoes. My Pops would have been one of those people who smoke a pack a day and live to 100 had it not been for Parkinson's. We have those long life genetics in my family as long as we don't defile ourselves. His little brother who was a chain smoker died from lung cancer. All I will say about that is that, we all die but lung cancer is a damn hard way to go...

I was the only member of my family who didn't partake in tobacco products, except for an occasional clove cigarette in the summer of 1984.
Dad smoked Pall Mall Gold and Mom smoked Virginia Slims and then More cigarettes.
Dad also smoked a pipe, early on was Sir Walter Raleigh, and then Borkum Biff tobacco.
Both sisters smoked Marlboro Reds and 100s, they all gave up smoking years ago.

The reason I have vivid memories of all this was that they would send me to the store, the store I ended up working at years later, to get their tobacco products.
Having Mom and 2 sisters, they would send me to that store to buy tampons and pads as well.

Funny, my Dad denies smoking cigarettes, but owns up to pipe smoking, even though he sent me to purchase them both in the 1970s.
He also denies driving with a Coors beer between his legs in his 1969 Rambler, but my sisters and I remember it.

It's no wonder I smoked pot for 15 years, only to quit when I had kids and start driving a commercial vehicle subject to random drug testing.....:D

I have never smoked a cigarette, I have taken exactly one puff of a tobacco pipe, and two puffs of a Swisher sweet cigar, and have never consumed marijuana in any of its forms. Pretty rowdy I know.

I don't like the smell of cigarette smoke and I think most smokers are assholes.
I tried smoking, dipping, and chewing tobacco, they all made me puke.
Only took one try to know it wasn't for me.

Odd that one of my favorite smells is a freshly lit cigarette lit with a Zippo lighter.
After that initial lighting, I can't stand the smell..:cool:

    Fond memories!
While in England, me and my buddies would throw a one pound coin in the machine and run off with a pack of cigs.
    I was 10

I stopped smoking by the time I was out of highschool.

Smoked weed from about 14-20 years old.

    Chewed from 20-25 years old.

Never had an issue quitting anything, glad I'm done with all of that!

I smoked for a long time, everybody my age usually smoked at some point. I never even thought about the smell, but now when somebody lights up around me it is one of the nastiest smells I can imagine. Weird how a long time smoker like myself now can't stand the smell as an ex-smoker.
One thing that still smells awesome however, is a walk in cigar humidor. They have one at Total Wine and when I go for some beers, I'll often step inside for a few minutes.

I have one friend who smoked for a couple years when we were in university. The one time I was walking outside with him and he lit up, he carefully stubbed his butt out and disposed of it properly when he was done. He's literally the only person I've ever seen do that.

My aunt smokes. Since we had kids, she's very kindly sent a small Christmas gift for them every year, usually chocolate. It always has to go straight in the garbage. It's amazing how that shit will infiltrate anything, even store bought food that's still in a sealed package.

I was working turnaround on nights about 10 years ago with a bunch of guys who were all into chewing tobacco. They stopped offering it to me once I told them my wife (girlfriend at the time) is a dental hygienist.

One of my favourite bars used to be right next to a cigar shop. That was a good place to hang out for a few hours on a Friday night.

    Speaking of smoking;
Back in the late 70s and early 80s when it wasn't illegal to smoke among the masses, I'd always carry a cigarette lighter when going out.
It somewhat impressed the ladies, offering them a light when I would see them about to light up at the bars.
Sometimes it was a conversation starter and then some.

As well, it seemed the women who smoked were usually a bit more adventurous, to say it politely.
That was at least my experience.

I've also had long-term relationships with a couple of smokers in the late 90s and early 2000s.
Both always smoked outside the home or vehicle.
One was a habitual smoker, the other only smoked when she drank, which was most of the time if I think about it.:p
You know what they say about crazy women.:eek2:

I'm keeping it toned down out of respect to the lady or ladies contributing to the page..

When I come to power, cigarettes are outright banned within the first 5 minutes. There's is zero reason to smoke. Zero.

Smoking pot will also be banned immediately. You want to get high? Get high with edibles or something. Nobody else should have smell that crap.

Drinking and driving will result in a mandatory 10 year prison term, no parole. Hurt someone while DUI? 20 years, no parole. Kill someone? Life, no parole.
