    Too many, but not enough....
Let's make it easy on the guy, any certified oil is fine. Clean oil matters more than price.

Just so I don’t forget later, I just ordered a 5-pack of OEM filters on Amazon for $30. Also ordered a 4-pack of 5-qt jugs of Kirkland 5w-30 synthetic from Costco for $70. That works out to $35.75 per oil change.

All the cool kids are using Walmart Super Tech oil and changing it every 2,975 miles.

And remember: dumping your used motor oil in a hole in the backyard expedites the natural recycling process.

I too have thought about switching to Valvoline or Pennzoil. I can get Amsoil same day, distribution center nearby, for me its cost. Everything is just so damn expensive nowadays.

I have plenty of OEM filters, got a box of twelve recently.

Change it often, keep it clean, keeps your motor nice and happy. Amsoil is great oil, just out-priced me for 5k OCIs. Pennzoil ultra platinum is very comparable (though I’ve heard/read) and much more affordable.

I did at 1k, then 5k, and every 5k since. I usually buy 3 gallons of amsoil at a time. Plus I tack on an additional 2 gallons so my son has oil for his truck, plus a filter. So it adds up quick, lol.

I have three new ones on ignore just from this thread, lol

Castrol Edge 5W-30 I have used as well, worked fine it was nice and quiet too. I just went with Pennzoil as its closer to me at Walmart. Target is out in my house.

Just poking fun here, and not at anyone directly. But, I find humor that we buy trucks that barely get double digit mileage, require tires that are $1,500 a set, but then try to save that money by finding oil that is $10 cheaper.

I’m no better than you guys! I use cheap oil.

Its not just about oil prices, its everything. We consistently see rising costs of everything here and you always get less, its ridiculous. I see it this way, sure I can afford Amsoil as I have, but if there is another option just as good that is more cost effective then perhaps I should consider it. Not an Amsoil ad here, plenty of good oils on the market, its just what I decided to use from day 1.

I have been looking at the Valvoline Restore and Protect, I might give that a try this summer when I'm due.

Autozone isn't always the cheapest price per unit (gallon/quart). I've found Walmart to be cheaper on several occasions.

I am mostly running Pennzoil Platinum or Ultra Platinum in my 2018. A few times I did the Costco brand once before. I'm still running 0w-20

I just got a email from valvoline and if you buy 4 5qt jugs of valvoline advanced you get 25% off there price plus another $5 off per jug. So its$90 for 4 5qt jugs and free shipping from valvoline not bad.

Amazon pennzoil ultra 5w30, 5qt jug is at $26.50 right now.. used to be $29. So why not just get it from there?
Get 4 jugs and you can get 2 change out of it. Too bad wallyworld only carry platinum and not ultra.. otherwise, i would go down and get some..

im running 5w30 at the moment with amsoil in it.. I’ll go back to ultra platinum at the next change..just wanted to try amsoil and see..

I read somewhere that it's best practice to stick with one type of oil. Meaning don't switch brands every time. Any insights?

I’ve done “whatever’s lying around in the garage” oil changes and mixed 3 brands of different weights (0w20, 5w20, 5w30) a few times. All major brand full synthetics. It’s not that big of a deal.

100% agreed. It’s oil. Slickery stuff. I’ll mix 0w20 with 5w30, without hesitation to get rid of partial bottles. My truck not care…

Prolly a better chance of issues with fuel from different locations/ manufacturers.
