Nothing like changing a water pump, alt, or starter in around 30-45 mins. I have the best of both worlds right now, if you want to call it that. A 98 Z71 and a 25 MDX.

I did not change any factory settings but my a/c stays ON after I turn the engine of and then ON.
That is right the indicator is not lit, but the cold air comes out and it cools as it should. Same with fresh air. The indicator is not lit but when I drive I feel the fresh air blow in my face without turning the fan ON

The way to disable the autostop is to buy a hybrid.

Tint and wheels. Decked box in the bed. S and B Cold Air filters under the hood. Shiftpower throttle response controller.
Technically it does auto stop. It just doesn't rely on the little starter and bendix to start back up. When the engine kicks on at a stop light it has the electric motor that spins up to idle speed that is not noticeable at all.

Seriously though, I've like the auto HVAC. It dials back the fan speed as the cab cools down.

The manual controls in the third gen aren't great, so auto it is.

Op, just do auto and override the vent controls?

In other news, the Amazon auto stop module is amazing. So nice not to have the annoying park-stop-start-stop. I never clamped the brakes hard enough to activate stop in normal driving. Toyota did a nice job skirting the EPA with that feature.

The whole point of using the "Auto" setting on your car's HVAC system is to let the system take care of keeping the cabin comfortable without you having to constantly adjust anything. When you first get into a hot car—like one that’s been sitting in the sun—the system automatically cranks the A/C and fan speed to cool things down as quickly as possible. Then, as the interior temperature drops closer to what you’ve set, it gradually slows the fan and balances everything out.

It’s designed to adjust in real time based on how warm or cool it is inside the car. So whether you're sitting in traffic, driving at highway speeds, or the weather outside changes, the system adapts to keep your preferred temperature steady.

Here’s why "Auto" is such a great feature:

    • You don’t have to fiddle with the controls while driving—it does all the work for you.

    • It keeps the temperature consistent, so you're not too hot one minute and too cold the next.

    • It’s more efficient, because it doesn’t overwork the system once the cabin is at the right temp.

    • It’s quieter most of the time, since the fan slows down when full power isn’t needed.

    • And in some cars, it even helps with things like humidity or air quality.
So really, there’s not much of a downside to using Auto mode. It’s convenient, smart, and designed to make the driving experience more comfortable without the hassle of manual adjustments.

Not at all. I was taught early on to turn the ac off before turning off the vehicle. Turn ac on after the vehicle is running. This takes a load off the engine when starting. Been doing this since I was 18.
