    Anyone into CrossBows?
Somewhat recently I picked up a TenPoint 460 Flatline with the Burris Oracle X scope and
still havent got around to shooting it.
Ten Point designates the Speed of your bolt in it's name....
    So 460 feet per second.
This Model Goes for $3300.00 Bucks and is a Beast!!!

    That makes almost no sound....
Besides,I already have plenty of firearms.
This was just one of those "why not" purchases.

Actually, I have nothing against crossbows. Each to their own. I like to harass/ tease people that shoot those stringed rifles. They should call it a cross rifle. It’s not a bow because you don’t hold the string in any way shape or form. :p Ya hold it like a rifle looking through a scope. Some scopes with built in range finder. Most have a gun sling to carry it over your shoulder like a rifle. :facepalm:I’m sure there’s more I can’t think of right now. Seriously, enjoy shooting it.

It's just another way of hunting.
I suppose I could climb a tree and drop down from above with a knife.....
But thats a little too primitive.

Yeah...I've seen some of his vids.
Crazy Stuff!! Used to enjoy shooting Wrist Rockets as a Kid.
Once you get one set up properly with the counterweights they're very accurate.
Brought home a lot of Squirrels.
Lived right next door to some Corp of Engineers property.
It was around 8k acres. They'd have war games back during the Vietnam Era.
    Paradise for us Kids!!
We'd go camping and of course everyone wood heist some Liquor from our Parents. I swear my Dad was drinking water after we'd take half of his bottle of Seagrams and replace it with water.
There were Squirrels,Rabbits,Deer pretty much all the animals you find in South Texas.

I ran a TX440 last year and run a new TX28 for this year...both from Ten Point. I had a Ravin R500 but sold it right before their recall. I did not like the feel and worm drive of the Ravin. My TX440 was running at 420fps on radar with heavy hunting arrows. My strings were starting to fray at around 100 shots. I'm a firm believer that faster is not always better. I opted for the TX28 because the limbs are 50lb lighter...hopefully reduce a bit of string wear. The TX28 is right at 390 with the same arrows. Aside from the slightly lighter limbs, both models are identical. I'd suggest upgrading from the Rangemaster to the Evo Marksman Elite...lets in a lot more light. Wyvern Creations is an excellent site to buy from. They're a small business and always give deals and have sales.
Both bows shoot super accurate, although discretion is still to be used when hunting. Just because you can hit a pie plate repeatedly at 100yds on the practice range...certainly doesn't mean you should shoot that far at an animal. I use mine in VA for deer and have the handicapped permit to use it for elk and deer in CO and AZ. I run it scoped in VA and an Aimpoint T1 red dot in CO. Yes....non-magnified red dots are legal in CO. That only took me 3 months to officially run to the ground...lol.

I wouldnt even consider shooting at a deer at 100 yards with a Crossbow.
Thats a pretty long shot for a rifle if you're not well versed at that range.

....correct. Too many people shoot targets at distance and think that shooting animals at that distance works too.....it doesn't.

Yep...there's a lot of variables you don't encounter at the range.
A twig,a target that can move at the last second, shifting winds.....etc.
It aint no fun tracking a deer by blood drops through the woods.
Shot a nice Buck near Lake Conroe and tracked him for several hours....
Only to find that MFer swimming 100 yards offshore!!!

Dang, it still impresses me how tough animals are. Figure if we got shot anywhere, we're down and staying put.

Just go to Ten Points website.
    They have faster and slower.
If I remember correctly there's only one model faster than the 460.
    The 550.
Of course this was several years ago so they might have something faster these days.

I get it. Using modern crossbows during archery season is a stretch. There is a bow and a string, yes, but that thing is a rifle. Every guy I know who shoots a crossbow is significantly older than me and blew his shoulders out from working manual labor trade jobs.

Regarding “cheating” by using something other than a bow, I tend to agree with Steve Rinella—I have no problems taking a rifle out in late season and simply harvesting some meat. It is super efficient.

But I also kinda think you should be required to get a doctor’s note to shoot a crossbow during archery season if you’re under the age of 50. :anonymous:
