Thanks for the link! My truck does not have TSS. Is it necessary to install the TSS piece in the grille? I’m wondering what it look like with out it. Can’t really tell from the pics.

Sure thing! Without the sensor garnish, there would just be a hole like this:

It would be nice to find a piece that matches the grille exactly instead of being a flat plate. Maybe someone on here sells something like that 3D printed.

ive found ONE other thread in this forum talking about it. it seems like the HVAC ecu will "reset" when it has any trouble, and its suspected that maybe a blend door servo is going out? that would cause the HVAC ecu to be cranky. It's not every time, but its happened more frequently than ever. it happened only 2 before (in 3.5yrs of ownership), now in the last 2 weeks its happened 4 times.
I do hear some servo activity when starting the truck on occasion. I am meeting w/ my buddy who has a techstream on Friday and we're going to try and check for any codes/errors.

thanks borther. leaving for a 10 day 2500 mile road trip to TX next weekend. it works fine once you press any hvac button. it wakes up, and is set to 72, face mode, no fan speed, seat cooling/heat is also off. so it doesnt retain the setting. so the big complaint is w/ remote start to turn it on and cool down- it may not be running.

Just installed the DB and the back rack. Not sure if I'll keep the bar; seems to not fit the lines very well. Not a bad install, and it is very sturdy and waterproof.

Diagnosis- most likely a ring land I think since I drove it back to the house a few hours and it smoked like all hell the whole way and had oil coming out of the exhaust pipe. Probably had about 4 quarts left when I got it back to the house. No knocking nothing things are pretty stout. But we'll know more when we eventually tear apart the motor coming out.

I spent a few minutes trying to diagnose. It definitely sounds like a servo blend door issue, in the left side of the center console (behind hvac controls, and above the gas pedal. When switching between face, floor, or blend modes I can hear noises. When set to floor / feet mode, there is stil some air coming from the face vents. Air bleeding out the top vent when set to floor/feet mode makes me believe it is not closing the blend door all the way. This could be why the HVAC ECU occasionally gets cranky and resets at vehicle startup. I do have an aftermarket stereo (for 3+ years now). The only recent changes in this area of the vehicle are
    - LC blower motor swap
    - Cabin air filter replacement
    - New Auxbeam light switch panel (replaced old one for new one, same wire route and placement)

    Video w/ the noise https://photos.app.goo.gl/REwbge7sxkLqB4VY6

I gave the truck a good interior cleaning. It's amazing the places that dog hair makes its way into.

Did you use a lilly brush? We hard a couple short haired dogs that shed like crazy and it was the best 12$ I ever spent, probably 10 years ago. Basically a big ol hunk of silicon. The car cleaning YouTube guys used to promote it.

I didn't do this to my truck, but an old neighbor of mine mentioned it to me when I first bought my truck 3 or 4 years ago and I'm hoping y'all know what I'm or he was talking about.

He told me that every time he buys a new truck, he lays down what is essentially commercial grade carpet protector.
He had a roll of clear plastic,.thin like saranwrap, that was sticky on one side. When he bought a new truck, he would remove cab trim, seats, etc. and lay this stuff right on top of the fuzzy carpet, reassemble the interior and then put in his aftermarket full coverage floor mats.

He did this because he would only keep a truck for 3 years and wanted max resale value. Before getting rid of the old truck he would get it detailed and remove the plastic by cutting around the trim n whatnot instead of disassembling and reassembling his interior.

The floors were spotless and he would put the OE mattes back in and either reuse or resell the aftermarket ones.

Anyone know what type of material this was or how expensive it might be, or where to buy? His roll was only 18-24" tall, but he had the same one for 3 vehicles and had plenty left over. I should have taken him up on the offer...

He said it was the same stuff some body shops put in the front driver foot well before starting work but I've lost contact with all my professional wrench turners (always check your cloud sync status before swapping to a new phone after holding on to the old one for far too long....)

Oh..what did I do tou truck today... took the truck to AutoZone to pick up a patch kit ($15 even after tax) so I could plug a hole in my wife's pirelli run flats on her mini Cooper.

The factory tires on the S suck, and this is the second one to fail. First failed at 2k miles, this one at 8k. She paid for the free upgrade if totalled coverage (for the length of the loan) so we are both praying for a major accident and a "free upgrade" from the 22 to the 25 because of weird electronic issues (multiple Christmas tree events for no reason with no discernable cause) and 400$ tires that leak.

Both tires had audible leaks from the middle of the tread, couldn't find any visible punctures or nails or signs of such. They were mint. Replaced the first and the mechanic didn't find a nail on the inside either. Nothin' again this time from my inspection and poking and prodding, but I wasn't falling for the "you can't patch runflats" scam again.

    Thanks for reading my blog.
Sorry for the mostly off topic post.
If anyone knows where to get the carpet plastic plz lmk!

    Yeah
As someone who usually keeps a vehicle 10+ years and 250k+ miles, I’m not interested in saving it for the next guy or maximizing resale. Vehicles aren’t an investment - they will always lose value. So I don’t see the point…
I’ll customize and use it to my liking for as long as I can get utility and value from it.
