Long time lurker, first time posting.
After having multiple Tacoma flavors (first, second, and third gen), a GX470, and a couple of 3rd gen 4Runners, I finally pulled the trigger on a new to me Tundra.
The truck is a 2011 double cab with the limited trim. Best part, I found an absolute cherry local to me (Cleveland) with 38,000 miles. The truck runs phenomenal. So far I’ve added window shades, and a bak revolver bed cover.
In the process of flushing/replacing all the driveline oil. Also scheduled to go in for ceramic coat and paint correction.
Next on my list is suspension, but trying to decide if I should bite the bullet and go 2.5 with DSC or run another Eibach kit which worked well on the Tacoma, but I’d like the DSC for dialing in the truck when I have additional weight on it. Any insight is much appreciated as I’ve never ran a 2.5 set up on any of my previous Toyotas
I work for an HVAC contractor and my wife and I recently bought our first home so this truck has to be well rounded. Camping, hauling, daily, etc.
My last Tacoma was set up for work/play with a cap, drawer system, and an eibach 2r setup.
I look forward to learning more about these trucks.
    Thanks for having me!

Welcome aboard! And since you're new here, I’ll let you in on the rules. You can’t talk about a truck and not post pics!! No, not the current one, the prior Tacoma that you had all fixed up! Let’s see that beautiful beast. I would skip the leveling kit if you’ll tow that box trailer often and get some good hard working shocks. Billie 4600s are the good low cost proven option.

The joys of buying an old truck that was sitting…IMG_6081.jpg IMG_6080.jpg
After hauling my 16’ trailer the other day I realized I had no running lights. Relatively easy fix after getting to the problem.

Appreciate the response! I’m not sure why the photos aren’t showing up! I uploaded some (they are JPG format). New to forms all together so not sure if I’m doing something incorrectly.

I recently fixed the same area. Wrapped rubbery thingies around wires going into fuse box. Existing holes are too big and let critters in.

    Photos work fine here.

Amazing! Yeah after pulling it apart someone was very clearly in there prior to me, but I don’t thing they knew what they were getting into. Given the milage and condition I imagine this truck sat most of the time and pulled a camper in the summer.

Oh no, I can see the pics of your new truck. I wanna see some pics of the old Tacoma! And bummer on the rodent infestation. Had a little on my 2019 as well. They were getting into the AC air intake. :puke:

More photos incoming! Honestly, it was a best case scenario. The truck doesn’t smell or anything. Only electronic function that wasn’t working was my trailer lights. Very very lucky all things considered!

    My first love,
A 97 4Runner I picked up wrecked. Previous owner hit a deer and messed up the front end. After a new radiator, core support, headlights, etc. it was a daily for about a year in college.
Only ‘mod’ was the biggest tire I could stuff in it without cutting. Great truck!IMG_4376.png IMG_4374.png

Next was a 19 Tacoma. The green 4Runner was an 01 limited. I picked it up with a bad head gasket. Fixed it up, cleaned it up, drove it for a while and sold it.
The taco ended up going to carvana during Covid. Made a couple bucks off both trucks IMG_4377.png IMG_4378.png IMG_4380.png

Then an 01 Tacoma. Set up with 33’s and an OME lift. Awesome little truck, but it was just that, little. The inside was a bit cramped at 6’2.
There was a 15 Tacoma, and then my 23 which I just sold recently to get the Tundra. The 23 was well sorted. With 33’s and a loaded bed it returned worse fuel economy than my Tundra!IMG_4384.png IMG_4383.png IMG_4382.png IMG_4385.png IMG_4386.png IMG_4389.png IMG_4387.png
Every Tacoma I’ve owned was stick as well. They are fun trucks.

Love seeing all of these. I really like the last few Tacoma setups, but I may be biased...

Double cab with a cap. You can’t go wrong! Great looking truck. I was looking at first gen’s as well during my search. REALLY hard to find in the north east in any sort of decent condition.

Welcome in from CA (Central Alabama) Ryan. You've found your way to the right place.

I still have my '97 T-100 that I bought new. Still, after all these years, the factory 5 speed is sooooo much fun to drive. And the constant reminder of simpler times is always welcome.

Ahem, the proper nomenclature for this cab type is "Access Cab". The Double Cab for a first gen was the full four doors (available 2004-2006). Then for the second gen, they became double cab (extended cab) and CrewMax for the four full doors.

What a great truck with an even better story. One day I will have another one as a project. I agree with you though, the stick makes it a ball to drive. It’s nice squeezing the little motors for all they are worth!

OOF, apologies for my ignorance! Especially after giving myself the ‘Toyota guy’ badge in the title. Really though, I like the access cab look over the full crew cab. The added utility goes a long way as well. The cab on the second gen is so massive to begin with I didn’t see a need for the crewmax. Even if kids are on the horizon.

Third gen’s have a great crewmax w/ 6.5ft bed combo now, like the Tacoma’s used to have.

Hey that’s a great looking rig with super low miles. Honestly I’d love to find one like that to just have around at this point. The newer stuff doesn’t really float my boat anymore… I must be getting old…

Thanks! Yeah I was super lucky to find this one. Especially local to the salt belt. I agree with you on the newer vehicles though. QC and durability is not what it used to be!
