New off-roading camera views in updated software

My truck was in the shop to get the trailer assist module replaced and below appeared on my screen when I picked up my 23 Limited Hybrid. I'm assuming they updated the software to the latest before testing, etc.

I circled the check box on the bottom right of backup screen picture.

"Click it" and you get right and left side cameras full on the periphery. For rock crawling I assume.

We also get pitch angle and roll angle gauges and front camera view. We also get quick select buttons for specific alternative cameras.

 

This has been on mine since I got it in 23’ maybe you didn’t notice it over there. Took me a few days of playing with everything to find it.

 

Mine always had Auto in the bottom right. I use that sometimes to turn on when the camera comes on at low speeds.

I noticed it immediately getting it back from the shop.

 

I had this option on my 22 since release.

 

Can’t comment as my camera views have recently disappeared.
Need to schedule a dealer visit to fix.

 

I guess it is a TRD option.
I dont have it on my 2025 platinum build 02/2025, did not have it on my 2025 platinum, build 11/2024 and did not have it on my 2024 platinum build 11/2023

Do you have CRAWL/DAC on your drive selector?

 

No. Selector has ECO, NORMAL, and SPORT. Then I also have the button for TOW/HAUL and TOW/HAUL+

I think somehow you got lucky. I just bought a new truck coming from a 2016. I sought the TRD off-road specifically for this feature as the non TRD trucks did not have this. Do you have the rear locker?

 

No rear locker. It is 4x4. Another weird thing is the truck(overhead view) on the big screen is now white. My truck is Blueprint. The display truck was Blueprint before it went in the shop. I've never seen where you can change it. I'm assuming it is coming the VIN to get the display color.

 

You can change the color in the settings menu

But it also tells me there was some type of software reset.

 

Im out of town away from my truck but I think you just tap on the truck on the screen. It has like 7 colors to choose.

 

Had that happen to me, check your fuses.

If you look at the bottom of the screen when camera view is up there is an "auto" option. Turn this on and anytime you are going slow enough screen will show all around the truck until you speed back up. I think it is on all 3rd gen with the 14" screen from 22 on.

 

Can you find out what update was performed and how it was done? So stupid that this feature is behind a software wall.

 

They more than likely ordered the wrong part for replacement and it enabled something already present in the headunit.

 

Well what was the P/N that was swapped in? This seems like an easy way to give those have have PVM, the MTM as well.

Enlighten me, all knowing one

 

I haven't taken it back yet to get calibrated so I don't have the paperwork. I will probably get by later in the week.

 

Finally got by so they could finish the process. When I picked it up, the option was gone. I guess the final procedures got rid of it. But I did find that I can get roll and pitch gauges on the dash under "customize right side". Not sure if that has always been there.

But I guess the option for gauges on the MMD was because they weren't done with the entire installation.

I still have to go back. It remembers the trailer and backs dat azz strait back, but the overlays on the backup cam are not centered. It is shifted way to the left.

 

Damn that’s so disappointing. But goes to show this is behind a software wall, not a hardware one.
