Hi guys my cousin is looking to get a RC lift on his 2015 CM 2wd.

RC website states that 2wd and 4wd are different suspension is that true?

also wondering if all 14-21 front suspension is the same? We contacted RC and they said 14-15 front suspension is different from 16 and up.

my 17 came lifted when I got it so I’m asking for him. Thanks
(Also yes I know yall hate RC. Please don’t bash him) lol

As stated, I bet @memario1214 has a better product then RC for close to similar cost.

But to answer your questions, 2wd and 4wd do have different front shocks part numbers due to 4wd having more weight up front. For shocks that are adjustable you get more lift on a 2wd than 4wd for above reason. But technically the parts can be "interchanged" since the mounting is identical. It will just vary the lift height if you swap between the 2.

And all 2007-2021 use the same shocks.

    Thanks for the replies.

so what you’re saying is if he gets a 4inch lifted strut for 4wd although he’s rwd it’ll give him more height?

Correct. His UCAs and CV axles won't be the biggest fans of it, but that's exactly what will happen. From strictly a mounting perspective, it'll go as @RobertD has alluded to, but he'll get more height out of it.

Depends how it gets the lift, but in general yes.

I should have clarified that this is the case for preloaded coil lifts or lifts that use the coil (either longer or heavier) to achieve the advertised height. Since 4wd is heavier if you use front shocks expecting that much weight and put them on a 2wd, you will get more height.

I guess this would not change if you are just adding spacers/blocks on top of the existing shock since you wouldn't be affecting the coilover compression. If that makes sense.

Also, the reason that RC is stating that the 14-15 suspensions are different than 16+ is because Rough Country lifts that are 4"+ use different spindles. The spindle was changed for the 2016 model year so things get a little muddy.

Damn thanks guys for the help. I myself didn’t even know this.

I guess he’s gonna go the 3.5 RC 4wd lift with lifted strut. I guess he’ll get 4inches lol

now back to me. I’m on spacers 2inch front and 2 inch block back. I’m 2wd as well and don’t feel like breaking the bank but want a little bit higher lift. What you guys recommend? I don’t want RC lol

My gut is the Eibach kit as well. Will be a little more supple than other offerings which should play nicer with the 2WD.

There is... but it's not what you are going to want to hear. Going north of 3 inches isn't possible without replacing your spindles. There's far too much angle applied to both the CV axles as well as the UCAs to hang out there without stuff ripping apart. If you want 4 inches+, at a baseline you're going to need to replace spindles and other supporting components to make it happen.

Rough Country 4" kits come with new spindles. They don't include UCAs though as the geometry there is largely unchanged, or at least within spec for stock arms.
