2025 Tundra and OEM Parts

My new Tundra and my upgrades are running into challenges. I bought a Heritage Grille from Manhattan Beach Toyota and went to my local dealer to have it installed today and got an interesting call this afternoon. The OEM grille that I ordered, Part#53101-0C220 was not OEM but a gray market Chinese knockoff and my local dealer refused to install it, as they state Toyota does not allow then to install any non-OEM products. My service advisor was great and shot me an email stating its a third party product so I can dispute the purchase with Manhattan Beach Toyota. That leads me to a few questions. Anyone every run into this type of issue with non-OEM parts?

Same here. I am take back by the chance that it is a fake grille. Starting to wonder about my local dealer. They tried to tell me they need to recalibrate all my front sensors and the camera as well, which makes no sense.

 

Sounds like someone ordered/used the OEM grille and then pulled a switcharoo because they didn't want the knock-off grille either. You seem to have gotten their return. Could you tell if the box was factory-sealed?

I have an update. I spoke the the parts team at Manhattan Beach and they were fantastic. The validated the grille is OEM and reached out to my local dealer and made it very clear that they are not going to tolerate fraud accusations. After that OEM debacles was resolved, my dealer hands me a quote to install the grille which included a $1,700 recalibration fee for my camera and sensors, which they state is required whenever the sensor and camera are unplugged. Needless to say, I about shit seeing that fee as I have replaced several grilles and never had to recalibrate a damn thing.

 

Find another dealer. There is zero need to recalibrate anything for a grille swap. They may be "revenge charging" you because Manhattan Beach called them and reprimanded them and/or they are bitter because you didn't buy the grille from them.

53101-0C220 is 100% the correct part number and has been since the 2022 Tundra was introduced.

 

Should call out the name of the dealer so other don’t go there. No need for a recal. Both the camera and PCS are in the same exact position. That price was to send you down the road.

 

So I took my truck to another dealer and they were shocked at the BS quote and validated my OEM grille. Their price was 80% less.

 

I would advise you to contact Toyota Corporate directly and describe in detail the experience and issues involved with your “local dealer”. There should be a contact link on your “local dealer” website.
