Hewitt Bypass kit: bolts where the block of plates go snapped... help.

Hi, first time poster.

I recently got the Hewitt bypass kit for my 05 AC 4.7l 2wd Tundra and when trying to install the block off plates the rusted bolts snapped, is there any relatively easy way to remedy this?

Best bet is to drill them out. They're pretty essential to install the kit. We've had more than one person show up here thinking they can get away without the plates, only to throw codes. May no happen every time, but it happens...

 

I had already taken a look at those, all I found was that people said it was a pita if you broke the bolts.

 

That is what it is looking like unfortunately. Are there any tricks for drilling them out? The space is so small, particularly on the drivers side.

 

pictures would go a long way...

1. you can weld a nut to the broken bolt to try and get it out, the heat helps loosen the threads
2. drill out the center of the broken bolt and use an extractor
3. drill out the bolt completely and retap the hole

 

I'd probably go with a right angle driver and stubby bit ...

 

3 out of 4 of mine broke. I safety wired the flange to the block. Been a few years, no issues.

 

If you can reach it, you can use the block off plates on the pump outlets. Same shape.
