Just picked this truck up last week. Had to take an 160 mile drive to pick up some flooring. Thought its a good chance to run the Tundra. I could not believe how shaky the ride was. It was all high-way but differing levels of quality. At times it was very normal but a few times it shook so bad I was freaking out wondering if I needed to pull over. The point I am making is this truck is very sensitive to the type of road. Way more than any other truck or car I have driven.

I realize this is a basic truck, very little trim or fancy details. I have been reading lots of posts here trying to get familiar. I see lots of guys doing lift kits, shock changes, etc. I really know nothing about those types of things so I am wondering if there is something that I can do to make this baby ride better. It was very disappointing and I was getting the stink eye from my better half.

The biggest reason to get this truck is the 8' bed. I like woodworking and I am tired of depending on other ways to get material delivered. This truck will be very welcome in that regard. I have aspirations for better tires but I think I might need to start elsewhere. There a bunch of other questions I will have on it, but this ride issue is something I could use some suggestions on. Any help appreciated.

First thing I check is tire pressure. Make sure it's correct.

Thanks, I had done that the day before. Stock tires, set to 35 all around per door badge. But a lot of the shakiness felt like the times in my life when the tires were cold or had a flat spot.

Yeah at dealers they commonly have too high a tire pressure but if you checked that then all good on that front.

The next idea is that one of your tires (or more?) has flat spotted. Not a technical term but basically been sitting too long without driving is bad for tires especially on pavement. Bring it back to the dealer OR if you have a favorite local tire shop they may be able to see something. Slight tangent but I've had a tire blowout a sidewall (but not lose air) basically a bubble on it and holy crud I thought someone had loosened all my lugnuts, it was insanity.

Basing all this on there actually being something wrong and not the "new truck suspension" thing which this sounds like way more than from your description.

I have a base SR5 2024, it gets a bit jumpy on the highways around me. Vibrates/jiggles the whole truck. Annoying as hell, my resolution is suspension upgrade since I was planning to lift it anyhow. The reason I went base, figured any suspension upgrades from the dealer would be a waste, given my plans.

Edit to add, tires are balanced, no issues with anything. Just cheap suspension and crappy roads.

The first thing to look at is unbalanced tires.

Thanks. Did you do any type of suspension change? If you did, anything you could tell me would be helpful.

Thats actually a very good thought. I am getting a soft cover installed tomorrow and this guy owns a truck shop. Gonna run this by him and see if he can give me more thoughts. I have no idea if these stock tires are worth a darn but don't want to drop 2K on new tires until I get some use out of this thing.

I haven't had the work done yet, but a friend did a 2.5" front and 1" rear on the Eibach stage 2R kit, so I'm doing the same. They were on sale not long ago, so I picked them up. Seems a good upgrade from factory without going all out on Kings like my other vehicle. Don't want to mess with having to rebuild the shocks...or the UCAs for that matter, so I got JBA UCAs to go with them. Buddies truck rides great. Only difference is he went with uniball UCAs, so he's got that annoying squeak from the bushings. He had the same issue with factory suspension and the new shocks cleared it up. He was using the same rims/tires, so it definitely wasn't that.

Thank you. I will take this to my truck guy to get a better understanding of this. Appreciate it.
