The Rockies have always been very arid with low humidity. The way I see it, if we're getting snowfall or rain that equates to a lower risk of fire danger. So generally, I see any precipitation as my friend.

I see it as drinking water! Living in a desert is not easy without water but I do like lower humidity (living in Omaha was dreadful) and fewer bugs!

 

Because someone has to balance out the two 40 year old hotties at the 5:45am spin class that i go to…as well as the absolute stunning 61 year old grandmother who can be found working out over in the free weights. Of course there’s many others at the gym as well. I purposely sit in the front row at the spin class so that i’m not distracted by the two gals that sit in the back.

 

My parents bought this style way back in the early 80’s. It still works awesome.

If i did that, all it would do is whip us up in a frenzy...including myself. I'm a single gym who goes to the gym to get an absolute butt kicking workout, not for the eye candy. Now, i'm not opposed to eye candy, but i find it distracting to my workouts. If needed, I'll purposely move to the different side of the gym if i need to regain my focus. It's not easy sometime, but i like to stay disciplined. Another pro tip of mine to keep my mind from wandering at any point (from er...um..destractions) is to simply add more weights or reps to whatever exercise i'm doing at the time. You can't do squats and lust at the same time...at least if you're doing them correctly. Add enough weight so that if you don't stay focused that you'll injure yourself is my motto. Seems to work for me pretty well. I'm also fit enough that i can easily get away with complementing women at the gym on their workouts (if i see that they're doing an impressive workout that is, not what they're wearing).

I did finally talk to a gal yesterday at the gym who has been busting her butt there for about 3 years. I somehow managed my complement correctly to her on her weight loss without offending. Here eyes lit up and she got a huge smile on her face and then thanked me big time for the complement. She must have loss close to 60+lbs since her pregnancy. The only way i can keep recognizing her is that she has the same hair style and glasses. She has a great work ethic at the gym.

I'm just an old fart living vicariously through others.
I should probably just go to the gym myself. Not to ogle though. Never that. I'm fine with being an old fart, but not a creepy old fart.

I will stand by my previous statements though.
Less fat, more fit.

I’ve have talked to other ladies at the gym, but i specifically have been wanted to talk to this gal in particular since she had an amazing work ethic. Our paths never crossed at the same time at the gym until yesterday.

I’m totally not the guy to ask for advice on how to talk to women…as least i don’t think i am. I do happen to be VERY fit. Fit enough that i frequently get compliments from other guys at the guy (mostly no-homo) and women at the gym. I also freely give out compliments to other men and women at the gym. Perhaps i might compliment them on their form, or how deep of a squat they can do. Perhaps it’s the amount of weight or how much the bar deflects when they snatch it up fast. Even dudes need to complement other dudes. I even complement the 340lb fat guy at the gym when he busts his butt when working out.

If i go running in a hot day with no shirt on, i’ve had all sorts of people strike up conversations with me…straight guys, gay dudes, women. Even young younger guys who are wanting some fitness advice for themselves. In fact a few months ago i went out running and some gal crashed her bicycle into a huge lamp post that was in the middle of the pedestrian pathway. Bad enough crash that the wheel was bent and it snapped the top tube on her bicycle. She was bleeding from her knees, elbow, and hip. I felt super bad when she tearfully said, “all i was doing was trying to watch you run”. I have a few more other funny stories as well.

I’ve been noticing that quite often women will do a quick head to toe scan on me as well. I don’t place too much stock in it, and tell myself that perhaps there’s some bread crumbs or egg yoke on my clothes. Just because a women looks at a guy…and no matter how much us guys want to believe this or not, it does not mean they want to take us home for the evening. 10x out of 10, they just appreciate eye candy as well, and that’s as far as they want to go with it.

Like i said, i’m a single guy and i enjoy being single. It allows me to focus my time on truck and moto products in my shop. I feel as though it would be selfish for me to try to juggle a relationship and do my own thing at the same time. So i’ve never even attempted to hone any skills with the ladies. The absolute only reason i go to the gym is to build a better physical me. The only reason i go run outside is because i used to be a decent competitive runner and i still enjoy the solitude of running. I’m beginning to think i’m a bit of an anomaly.

I will say that if you’re really fit, the dating pool that you may be interested might shrink to be really, really tiny. No doubt a guy with a dad bod could find a potential mate that has a mom bod MUCH easier than a very fit man could find a very fit woman. I’m not exaggerating, but on average i’m going to guess that out of a random pool of 5,000 women, only 1 is going to be ultra fit? Finding an ultra fit women over the age of 40 might be closer to 1 in 10,000? It’s just way easier for men to be ultra fit. I had a friend (who was in decent shape) who was a self professed chubby chaser, so those numbers didn’t pertain to him whatsoever.

One of my main goals at the gym right now is to learn and remember as many of the other member’s names as possible. I’ve been trying really really hard with that, i must be close to being on a first name basis with close to 50 different people. I try to greet them all by their first names. It does a few things…it makes them important (which they are), and it makes them motivated, and it keeps them accountable. Plus it just makes the whole workout easier when you’re in a good mood and are recognized by others.

My point being, get in shape for yourself firstly. If it happens to attract a potential mate, then great. But you never know when you’re going to loose your heath…and it will happen at some points in our lives.
