I have my eye on an '05 Tundra 4x4 that lived its entire life in the southwest and has virtually no rust. 110K miles and just had the following done: timing belt/water pump, new tensioner/component pulleys. The asking price seems high to me (~18k). Wondering what ya'll think would be a fair price.

Maybe look at it this way.

2005 w/4WD around 100k miles with no service history, maintenance needed, you may see pricing around $14k-16k depending on the market, knowing SW and W coast vehicles come at a premium.

It's going to cost you $2k to have all the work you just listed off if done by a competent shop. So $16k-18k seems like a fair enough range. If it's accident and modification free, and the paint is in great shape as it looks like that is, and original glass, I think fair value is at the high end of that.

The person who priced that truck is on-point (IMHO) assuming it's accident-free.

That truck is worth $18K all day long. Barely broken in with mileage, paint is good, seems solid on maintenance (LBJ?). If you don't jump on it, someone else will, and fast. Low mileage 1GTs go fast in these parts (AZ) because they have no rust. Which is where I found mine. Pretty sure I could sell it for around the same price easily.

My question is, what can you get it insured for? If insurance will reimburse you $18k, then sure. But no matter what it's a 20 year old truck and will require maintenance even if it's just been sitting in a garage.

Just because it’s got low miles doesn’t mean it’s great.. plastics wear out too. As much as I love these first gens I would never pay that kind of money for on of these. 18k plus tax is too much.

Someone will pay it. I'd pay probably $12-14K.

If it was mine I'd wait until someone paid me 18K. What else can you buy for 18K?

Imagine the disappointment you would feel after paying $18k for some lame ass used Chevy. FGTs rule

    That’s more reasonable.

$12k for that truck would be a steal
