Thats right. Heree what I pulled off my dawg 10 mins ago. It was hanging just by teeth, so it was most likely ultra recent. Beware.

Check armpits, between legs and behind ears. Those bastards bite where skin is soft.

Back when we had pets, it was an evening ritual to pull a lawn chair up in front of the garage door and pick that days ticks off them.

There's something out there that says all Gods creatures have a use....
Cant think of a single redeeming quality ticks have.
Except to make the wicked suffer.

I met a boy about 15 years ago down in NC. He told me Ticks were God's population control. (this was in regards to deer and other animals getting them)

I like to get them with a lighter most of the time, but when I have a nice scented candle around, I have found you can drop them in, put the top on and watch them slowly die. I've never enjoying watching things suffer, but after getting sick from a tick bite, I like watching them die slow.

I still like the painting em with fingernail polish, clear fingernail polish so ya dont look like a weirdo.
I've heard of people heating up the tip of a paper clip and touching them with it so they'll let go.
The problem with that is they'll regurgitate all kinds of nasty crap into you.
By putting nail polish on them it's not like an attack so they just let go and dont puke up all the nasty crap into you.

Oh, I don't put anything on me, I usually catch them crawling still. They took me out HARD for two weeks with anaplasmosis, they got my dad and brother with it too. Felt like I was going to die, fevers well over 100, hallucinations and all sorts of pain. Now they get slow deaths. If you think you are sick from one, go get doxy from your doctor asap, its like a miracle death pill for the tick germs.

I grew up in farm county. We smeared ticks with Vaseline when we found them on animals. The theory was that they could not breathe, so would pull out and drop off the animal. My vet tells me this is no longer suggested, and it is best to pull them out with tweezers. I pull and rotate, which seems to work best.

I remember all the warnings about the Rocky Mountain Fever ticks back in the day.
Used to do a lot of Dove hunting and we'd put flea and tick collars around our ankles outside of your pant leg of course.
    It seemed to help.

I went to the beach on Long Island. I saw a deer and it looked like it had a cluster of grapes on its head. A closer look....They were all ticks.

I used to be an Infectious Disease Mgr. If you find and tick, you may want to consider telling your doctor and getting tested. You should know if you start getting symptoms like Lyme arthritis or neurological symptoms, they do not resolve even with successful treatment. Plus treatment is much more intense with advanced disease.

    Two things to fight ticks:
    1. Do not mess with possums. They eat ticks are are pretty harmless to people
    2. if your yard has a bad tick problem, try this: Put a white sheet down and put a block of dry ice in the middle of it. Leave it for several hours, or overnight. Come back and you'll see hundreds, or thousands of black dots on the sheet - ticks that were drawn to the carbon dioxide as the dry ice melted. Fold the sheet corners in, trapping all the ticks, and burn it.

#2 may not be the most effective way of fighting ticks in your yard, but it sure is fun burning the little bastards!

This is where I struggle to leave my place in Colorado. I don't see rattlesnakes, bugs, ticks, etc. Most we see is hornets, bees, and flies.

So glad we don't have lots of ticks where I live. I have seen one in my life. Gross little monsters and REALLY hard to squish.
