What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

There are two stickers I've seen on back of diff. One isn't in the position, it's more at the center of the diff. @455h0le_dachshund posted the standard location/size/etc.

 

These modern AGM batteries off gas practically nothing. I ran a similar battery previously with the same hold down for a couple of years with no ill effects.

Drove trailerless to Crackhead Corner late in the day and sprayed herbicide on all the poison ivy, Virginia Creeper, and all the other brush overtaking the house and garage.

Used 4wd Hi to turn around and navigate the mushy areas of driveway (big thunderstorm last night soaked that area).

Once again, big "THUNK" when the 4wd disengaged. SMH.

Saw at least one tweaker over in the trailer park next door. Guy was doing those repetitive and odd movements you see meth users do.

 

ok, yeah I'm not investing anymore than I have to into the current rig. I don't mind the clear fogs.
As hard as it's going to be, in the next few years the plan is to get a good FGT and sell this one.
Get one that doesn't have mortal wounds AKA rust/accident damage/twisted body-frame.
The more money I dump into this one, the harder that gets

 

This may not apply to your situation/clunk, but a while back we got into this discussion about the speed for engaging and disengaging 4x4.
There were varied opinions on the suggested, and what some guys actually have done.
But the discussion started from me talking about the cringe worthy "clunk" I heard and felt when disengaging.
My instinct was to disengage at low speed (under 15) and on deceleration, foot up off the throttle.
Changing that to above 20-25, and still being on the throttle (lightly) made the transition buttery smooth, almost undetectable.
YMMV but try that once.

I used to work around a lot of those type people every day. It's mostly just sad af, but you have to keep your head on a swivel and pick the right time of day to do work.
I tried to avoid Fridays and any day after about 2pm, or the day they get their checks.
But I'll admit (as prob many of us would), just one wrong turn at a fork in the road, or one more bad choice, and I could have been one of those people.

 

I run the same bracket on my AGM. You're right...AGM batteries don't off gas.

 

Mine does it sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. I don't worry too much about it.

Awesome. Tried to fit an H7 before and ran into the tray issue - like 1/4" off IIRC and was gonna use something like plywood but the non AGM are the same price so just got the 27F. This custom spacing made out of that mat is a great idea for another time.

 

I had updated my second post about this but forgot to update my first. It turned out that the new outer dust shield on the wheel hub wasn't seated properly. It was dark by the time I installed it and must have missed that the bottom portion wasn't fully flush. Yesterday morning when I went back out and did some messing around I realized that's where the drag was coming from. Got it all seated and now it spins nice and free. Thanks for taking a look for me!



Installed the new gas tank yesterday evening. No CELs and no more overpowering gas smell

If you're responding to me. Yup RA! It's a Doorman OE tank. Figured for a tank OEM or not doesn't really make a difference, definitely OEM for the pump however.

I’ve ran bill stiens since I’ve had the truck, I cranked the preload collar down recently before Sedona

 

I thought you had the Kings for a good while now. Like a couple years maybe.

 

How are you liking the Kings compared to the Billies? I still have not decided what I'll do next but I'm glad I was able to talk you out of getting Icons.

 

I just can't believe you hate them that much. Are you on the 650 or 700lb coils?

I definitely don't hate them. I just don't think they are the best option for our trucks, especially at this price point. I should have bought Kings or ADS. I'm on 650 for now. To Icons credit, mine haven't leaked yet. All the "experts" claim they always leak.

 

Theyre ok, but mainly because of the higher spring rate, I might get them rebuilt with different valving, I’m still hitting bump stops on stupid dips. But I no longer have the extreme rake so that’s good

 

Since you're carrying so much weight I wonder if you need something beefier, with a remote reservoir. I wish ADS weren't so expensive. Pre covid they were a lot more affordable.
