I got hit in a parking lot and the person didn't leave a note. I am wondering what this might cost and if it will be more than my deductible. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks.

It could easily be 3500-4500 at a quality shop to get it repaired and properly paited so it matches.

Or, you can get the dent ponded out and have the bed side painted for around 1500 at a lesser shop.

    None at this point.
I HATE paying for Body Work!!!
It's one of those things you hope to never have to deal with so of course you dont spend money on the equipment.
Unlike wrenches that you know you're going to need for basic maintenance and bolting on accessories.

Looks like you hit a pole lol

Try buffing the bumper cap. If it looks good, get a mobile dent repair guy come to you. Then buff the rest.

You can also try to pop it out yourself before calling the pdr guy.

A pdr guy will not touch that not a reputable decent one anyway. I have a similar but lot smaller dent on my driver side by the bumper with zero paint damage and I have two awesome pdr guys I use and they both said they can’t/wont touch it. Body shop quoted me 2500 I ended up getting a high clearance rear bumper which cut that part off

I had similar damage. Not quite as deep but over a little bit larger area. They replaced the damaged bed panel as it was more cost- effective.

Looking at the dent, I still wouldn't rule out PDR. Use Yelp and send out a request for quotes. Include several images. I would estimate $400-$600 if they can bump that out using PDR techniques.

If none will take it, then it's off to a body shop. They will correct the defect and likely have to paint the entire side of the bed, which means removing and replacing decal, bed cap trim, etc...

I would expect the estimate to be greater than $2k.

I would also say that with some compound and a buffer, you can remove the white color transfer and any minor scratches.

I too am having difficulty imagining a vehicle that would create that kind of impact and drag.

I had tailgate damage on my 22
Only the tailgate, meaning I could remove my tailgate & leave it with them for the repair

    Body shop wanted $4400

I would guess north of $5k if you want it all perfect & like new

Any damage to tailgate, taillight, or exhaust?
That will jack up the cost real fast

Just go into any local body shop & get a quote
You don't need to involve insurance until you know the cost, then decide

I think pricing on this will vary widely based on your location/local market conditions

PDR guy near me could get that dent popped out. I've seen him take on worse. He's got 25+ years experience and also hosts classes for those wanting to get into PDR. He typically bills your car insurance company for the work. I suspect he's charges less than the body shops which is why the insurance companies are willing to work with him.

I took my truck to 4 of the highest rated body shops near me who all use pdr guys and they all said it couldn’t be done with pdr either maybe they were just blowing smoke up my rear either way I’d get it fixed right op looks like a nice truck

Sorry, I was referencing the dent in the original post. Your quarter looks severely stretched. My understanding is that a stretched area equates to more surface area and can't be repaired 100% with PDR.
