Ripped out, and replaced the rats nest the cap installer left behind the drivers side tail lamp today. Must have been 12 splices in there, and nothing secured to prevent tailgate shock from damage to the wires, which were all pinched up.

All new, naked butt connectors with waterproof shrink tube and wire loom protective covers., zip tied out of the shock path, 4 total connections inside there now, with separate feeds to the interior cap dome lamp

I hate it when people do not take the time,to do shit right from the beginning.

Worked up a list of parts finally to start the build on this monster, and it's randomly started ticking and drinking coolant out of nowhere...so trying to chase that down and figure out if they're connected.

Hopefully it's the chain tensioner and a reservoir leak, and not a collapsed lifter and head gasket. :fingerscrossed:

I'm a few days late, but I got out with a couple buddies to wheel the Saturday before Mother's Day. Mainly went as moral and recovery support for a friend, as his rig is heavily built. '06 Tacoma DC, Ford kingpin Dana 60 front and a Corporate 14 rear, 42" IROK's and an Atlas 2 speed. We hit a trail just outside Boulder that offered a decent challenge for my truck, and enough places for him and his friend to play with their big boy crawlers. He did talk me into crawling one of the rocks in my truck, which caused my only casualty of the day, my BesTop bed step. Otherwise, that trail is much more rutted and washed out than the last time I ran it years ago, the sliders and skids got quite a work out, but the truck did flawless. Anywho, lots more photos, but these were my favorites. I'll get the video up on YouTube as well.

Not sure on the spec's of the FJ, other than it's on Currie RockJock rotated D60's with some sort of crawlbox behind a 6sp manual.

    Mighty Mouse downhill Ironclads.jpg

    Mighty Mouse downhill Ironclads 2.jpg

And here is the Tacoma described above.
    Pats taco roadblock.jpg

The trip did highlight how worn out the Radflo's on my truck are, I got to listen to them bang and pop most of the trip. Stumbled across a deal on a set of Bilstein 6112's on FB marketplace that had only been installed long enough for the previous owner to decide he didn't like them :monocle: so they'll be going on the truck this summer.

The out of the box valving on Bilsteins 8100-8112 is great. Kings tend to be on the stiffer side it's always recommended to order these higher end shocks custom valved and sprung to your specific application and use case. Companies like accutune, downsouth etc all provide this service. All these are designed to be used off-road lets not forget that..

Sumo Springs for towing. But used some unused bump stops I had in garage for a factory like bump stop for when not towing. Keeps the travel and plush ride. Had to just barely bore out center of the bump stop (to fit an 1/2 long socket) and got a flanged serrated nut to lock it in. Works great and can change both sides in a minute total without lifting truck.

Looks like you got a little more space than mine. Honestly the ride ain’t bad with them, slightly more firm but a very smooth transition. If I had a lift I would probably just leave them.

Quick question for you, I currently have the SPD downpipes and exhaust. Love it! But toying with the ideas of switching the downpipes for headers like you did. How much louder is it? Hard to tell from the videos lol I'm 50/50 on the idea but if I'm already down there putting in my motor mounts and value body/trans pan I figured now would be the time rather than later.

    Thank you!

    Yes...that's totally why I bought it...:anonymous::rofl:

In all honesty, it's just one of those things that I always wanted on my truck for some dumb reason.

It’s definitely louder and I’d say smoother cleaner tone close to sounding like an LS or mod motor.

I'll have to find a pic of the epic creek crossing in the XJ...

I get it. I run one with the pre-filter on the FJ and it’s awesome. I can run for days in the dirt and my filter stays clean.

Just a heads up, there is a sticky somewhere about these mods (multiple vendors) not having the "release" feature built in. So if there are tiny fingers in your truck, those switches don't stop going up if there is resistance detected.

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/warning-about-the-aftermarket-auto-up-switches.142049/#post-3792732

    Just an fyi.

That's why I just have the driver's side master control and keep the override switch engaged so I'm the only one rolling up/down windows
