I have a new to me project, 2014 SR5 CM with 150k . The old owner installed RC 2” coilovers, like the stance but they ride rough. Was thinking of the TRD pro Fox 2” coilovers ? What are your thoughts? Currently has steelies and 295/70/18s MT Baja EXPs , thinking about trying to find some pro take of wheels and dropping down to a 285 or 275 to lighten the 4 corners ? What are your thoughts? IMG_8834.jpg

I had Fox 2.5 2” on a 14 with stock wheels 295 70 18 and had rubbing on the resi. Ir sure if more offset on the wheels would have worked better but it should fit and ride good

You don’t have to run the trd coilovers, you can just get the regular fox 2.5 coilovers for the tundra or Bilstein 6112s or other; at a certain point you’re just paying for the trd sticker on them

that looks like rough country’s UCA for lifted tundras so that’s good, you can go back with the same height on whatever coilovers you get, or you can pickup some factory UCA if you want to be at stock or leveled height (factory UCA are generally good for up to 2-2.5” of lift)

And the less unsprung weight the better; it’ll help mpg too; but up to you on offset/tire size

yeah the possibilities are literally endless; and I vote for the 17s as well, more rubber equals better ride quality and offroad-ability

Want something softer than the rough country’s , the wife was riding in my tundra today and she commented on how rough mine rode. She has a 25 Platinum with a TRD factory lift , it rides pretty nice. So many choices I was thinking 6112/5160 but wondering if it’s going to ride rough too? I’ve heard good things about the Fox TRD coilovers but the resi foxes haven’t gotten much love in any reviews I’ve seen , so much to choose need some opinions.

I've run both the 6112/5160 and Fox TRD Pro sets of suspension. The Fox is much plusher. Between the two, I'll take the Fox every day, all day, unless I was going to be towing a lot or carrying a lot. Then I'd reconsider.
The 6112/5160 isn't bad by any means, I just prefer the feel of the TRD Pro Fox. But, I also wouldn't pay the brand new price for the Fox. Find a good used set for cheap and have them rebuilt.
I've written more details between the two in other posts. Maybe they'll come up if you search.

I was running the 6112 on the 2.5" lift clip. Also used Coachbuilder shim for an extra 1/2" lift on top of that. Also had Bilstein/Dirt King UCA. I was topping out a lot. That sucked.

On the Fox, I'm running a Coachbuilder shim for an extra 1" lift and again Bilstein/Dirt King UCA. No topping out.

Yes, I found the TRD Fox for 900 per side and the rears I think for 650 , more than the 6112 obviously but less than the 8112s , I’m liking the Bilstien longevity reports (100k )though so maybe worth the extra?

I have been running TRD Pro Fox’s for over two years now. They have been great and they ride really nice. I added a .5 inch coach builder spacer and have switched wheels many times and never had any reservoir rubbing issues. They are pricey but the finish holds up better than the standard Fox 2.5s as well. Especially in a salty environment. Heres a pic of mine after two years of use. Good luck. IMG_5563.jpg

If you can wait Toyota dealers online occasionally run sales with free shipping on Toyota parts. If your going for the TRD Pro Fox's that would be the time to grab them!

I've been running the TRD Pro Fox shocks for the past 3 months or so now (scored a used set with 30k miles on them for $1200). My family and I just towed a travel trailer on a 3000 mile road trip (from AZ, through Utah, through Wyoming, over to South Dakota, and back home to AZ through Colorado and Utah), and the truck rode incredibly nice throughout the whole trip.

Do you have the matching rear shocks?

Suspension fluid breaks down. Nitrogen leaks. Performance can suffer. Sometimes it's noticeable, sometimes it's not. Usually because you slowly become use to it deteriorating over time. Just because a company claims 100k, or lifetime rebuild intervals, doesn't mean you're not losing performance. And honestly, if your shocks aren't leaking, you really don't have to rebuild them. But, if you want the maximum performance, they should be rebuilt. And Fox sets rebuild intervals for maximum performance.

I don't know if I would buy them at that price point. Personally I would probably just spend more and get the 8112/8100's. I feel they are the best currently available. And they are adjustable.

I bought my Fox TRD Pro's for $800, paid $125 or something close for shipping, and spent $640 for rebuild. At that price, I feel they are well worth the money. I don't know if I would do $3000+
