Had a semi blow a tire on the freeway this morning right next to me. The tire shot right into my passenger door. Sounded like a shotgun went off next to my ear, thought my tire exploded. My right ear was ringing for about 15min. I pulled over and the truck kept driving

got the DOT number and license plate number going to call the trucking company tomorrow, see if they can do anything

Technical hit & run, file a police report. It'll provide backup when you file a claim against the trucking company.

Have stretched em like taco BSM about .75" with rolled edge clamps but really they are too small to stretch like those trucks. Porsche 930 boots or similar are apparently a fix as they are large enough to stretch but usually it's needed for steeper angles.

I assumed they were the same boots, just longer axles. I suppose one could always get longer boots? haha
Either way, I'd assume the technique could still be applied

I wish they were. Thought it was solution for my steep angles and put a little stretch on em but they still rub. After studying it a ton and speaking with folks like CVJ came up with all the info summarized here. Hoping it helps others...

The Kartek and Allpros are bigger so can put the stretch on em.

I always think about this happening when I'm next to a semi for more than a few seconds. I figure it's pretty unlikely to happen but I guess it's gotta happen to someone.

Probably couldn't hurt to do another drain and fill soon. Mine drained out exactly one gallon of fluid last time I did it. For your sake, make sure you look up the drain plug torque spec though, or whatever it was that mangled your first transmission pan. :boink:

That sucks man. I hope you can get them to pay for the repairs.

Around here, between Nashville and Chattanooga, I swear people slow down when they pass semis on the interstate. I'll be following someone at 75-80 and they drop to almost 70 as they pass the semi. I always speed up, if I can, so I spend as little time next to them as possible. Too many times I see them just weave slightly into my lane and just a touch from them will ruin my day.

I'm jealous of all of these clean looking axles.

That was fast... Did you forget to clean the surface before applying the adhesive?
I've had the stick-on visors on my Tacoma and currently on my 03. They're fine and all, but I've got the in-chanel weather tech visors on my 06 and they're pretty badass.
