sorry to be late. Off quick skim it sure looks like 090IIU 6 way (there are two styles) as a match to the one used to feed rear speakers in heaps of Toyota trucks. Good info from Mr rain man.

it’s helpful to de-pin and review the the terminal type. Or cross reference Toyota doc for the series. Once you know series, gender and number of positions it’s pretty close to done, you just need to match the look on slots / tabs / layout. You can find TE doc, Yazaki doc, Sumitomo doc, etc in various places.

but google image search is a great shortcut too.

last, often the 5 digit Toyota part number is molded in but can be hard to see, especially with my old eyes. A photo you can then enlarge helps.

In this situation you also have options if you have the terminal type identified.

source new make and female connectors matching the series. De-pin the ones you’re supposed to cut and make or buy jumpers to replace them with female on both sides. Buy a new connector with the number of spots you need that works with this terminal and two males. One male is a quick circle connecting the red to red jumper and green to green jumper. With that in place you’re back to stock operation, test away. Next you do a 2nd male feed to the module which has all the leads wired up properly. To finish it off, supply 12v fused power and ground.

With a T you avoid de-pining but you need two feeds to get the module hooked up, one to the T and one to power / ground so it’s a slightly less clean look.

I have my ‘02 Tundra 3rd brake light / cargo light done up this way myself, allowing me to effectively float the ground while the shell is on if I wanted to and also grab the cargo and brake circuits to feed the shell dome shell 3rd brake lights eventually, and stop using the one off the taillight. The idea was a Deutsch flange which connects to the shell when in place and once removed a cap to loop back ground for the back of cab light.

and that was started 4 years ago and not yet complete, just hanging out as a coil behind the seat for now. It could potentially be retirement before I get to really play with my toys.

I’ll try to carve out some time this afternoon.
Dave’s post is good information and follows the same logic I use, but I can try to walk through it a bit more succinctly…
