Any engine issues with 2025 Tundra?

Thank your for the update.
It is wonderful to hear that many owners with the New Tundra are having no problems.
SAME is across the board with ALL Auto manufacturers = Some trucks fail under 50k and many continue strong past 100k

I purchased a NEW 2025 Tundra and returned it the next day for these reasons:

1.) The entire truck is very thin metal = MUCH thinner then a RAM or Silverado
When on the highway the center of the hood flutters because the metal is so thin.
I can go around the entire truck with my pinky and make the metal flex ( i am old and have Lymes so my pinky is vey weak and sensitive to pressure/pain)

2.) PLASTIC Bed
Even though it is composite plastic they chip and crack easily when used as a work truck

3.) PLASTIC Corners for the rear bumper.
Those corners are paper thin cheap plastic that I can easily rip off with my old bare hands.

4.) Engine failure continues into the 2025 year with one owner who BEAT your post of the RAM = 2025 Tundra complete engine FAILURE at 1,500 miles

5.) 2024 Tundra owner had engine failure under 30k and Toyota did a New Crate Engine Replacement that FAILED 500 miles later.

6.) Even with Toyota's GREAT Warranty Service, I am not interested in their experiment, wheras 5.7L HEMI has been around a long time with many going over 200k before engine failure

7.) Will buy a good used one owner pre-22 Tundra DblCab with 8 foot bed = PROBLEM is that after 3 months I could not find one and when I did someone beat me to it.

I hope you have a trouble free 2025 Tundra that goes well over 150k miles for you with good times and good memories.

I miss my pre-22 Tundras (i had 3) and would buy one again without blinking.

 

Seriously? This is a 2025 engine issues thread, and you dumped your 25 which had no engine issues, yet you won't stop posting in here. Go search all of the pending class actions and problems with the 5.7 hemi instead of posting here. As was mentioned prior, you should have researched prior to purchase. It's well publicized that the bed is composite and aluminum and the hood is aluminum. The engine issues are also well known. I get that you are not interested in the warranty service. Most of us who are not unhappy with their purchase are not interested in you continuing to post the same rants in this thread. Again, this is the 2025 engine issues thread, not your personal soap box for your un-happiness with Toyota's build quality. PLEASE STOP. Go to a different thread and rant all you want. Maybe the Ram forums would be a good place for it.

The many Toyota's i have owned far outnumber the two RAM's (2007, 2022)

I have owned PLENTY of Toyota's including but not limited to:
1990 Tacoma
1994 Tacoma
2013 Tundra
2016 Tundra
2018 Tundra
2025 Tundra
and many other Toyota's

Currently, we are looking for my son's first truck = a pre-22 TUNDRA
And I will buy another pre-22 TUNDRA when I find the right one.

I have every right to speak here.

Just FYI - I have a lot of Toyotas, and my 1997 land cruiser (the best vehicle ever constructed) also does this. Just like my 2025 Tundra.

My 1981 Z28 Camaro never did
My 1986 Nissan King Cab never did
My 1987 Ford F350 never did
My 1991 Ford F150 never did

My 1994 Tacoma never did
My 2013 Tundra never did
My 2016 Tundra never did
My 2018 Tundra never did
My 2022 RAM 1500 never does even when doing 95mph
My wifes 2024 Equinox never does
My 2021 Subaru Forester never does

In 50 years of driving cars/trucks, I have NEVER seen another make/model ever have such cheap thin metal that caused the hood to waver from going down the highway.

 

Please do not spread false information. The low mile failure reported on the sole 2025 Tundra is not the same failure seen on 2022 Tundras. Most of those failures related to the recall happened at much higher mileages. Those few low mile failures likely have a different cause or defect.

PS: Most Toyotas have always had thinner and more flimsy sheet metal, plastics, and rusting frames. They excelled in mechanical parts dependability. Just my 2 cents

Yes, the hood is aluminum, and it flutters a bit. Big whoop-de-do.
Guess what? Ford made an entire truck from the stuff...welcome to 2015.

 

Another thank you to those who remain strong in pre-22 Tundras and are not content with the unfortunate decline in quality/dependability of the new Tundras that began in 2022.

It just seams such a shame to try to better an awesome engine/truck assembly just to keep up with the BS lately.
The 5.7 will out last this new mistake in the long run. I'll put all my cash on that.....

Curious how you went thru the entire buying process and then decided to "return it the next day" ...
when you could have walked around pushing with your pinky before ever taking a test drive.
Was it that very same night of your purchase that you heard about the one 2025 model with engine failure?
Was it that very same night of your purchase that you decided to research 2024 Tundra engine failures?
How much of a hit did you take trading in your used 2025 Tundra? ... because "what if's" of engine failure, plastic bed, and aluminum sheet metal.

I have owned 5 Toyota Trucks and 3 Toyota cars.
Never had a quality issue.
Past reliable experience made purchasing a 2025 Tundra a reliable choice = normal operating procedure as with my last three Tundras.

After i experienced the thin metal and other i went into full search mode and discovered NHTSA recall and the serious danger associated with it = warning from NHTSA

New vehicle, no matter the make, is not worth the risk for my safety to be driving down the highway at 70mph with potential for engine failure and a CRASH.

Someone crash into me years ago that left me injured and i am not interested in the possibility of my New vehicle failure being the cause of another accident = especially at high speed.

 

Say it again.... and again... and again...

Because that has been very effective at swaying people.

Legit question here, are you a bit autistic? If so, giving a heads up will go a long way toward people understanding and having patience.

I purchased a 2009 Tundra new and still own it. You're not wrong. I love the truck. Unfortunately it's rusted beyond repair.

I did my research before buying my 2025 and still chose Tundra over the other brands.
If you want to google search, it's pretty easy to find that Ford, GM, Ram, ALL have major issues. Pick your poison.

Can't say as I've heard of any Tundra engine failures result in crash / personal injury
... but I guess if the engine fails and you panic and jerk the wheel into a concrete wall, it could happen.

You are 100% correct = all New 1/2 ton trucks from all makes are having major serious problems

Tried locating a low mileage(under 15k) pre-22 Tundra and was unable to find one below $40 - $45k = when i did find one it was SOLD before i could buy it

So i went with a used 2022 RAM 1500 with only 3k miles on it.

My son is trying to find a affordable pre-22 Tundra for his first truck.

 

I was just glad someone posted to get past the Waterboy scene... it's disturbing but I couldn't look away.

 

But that's what made me look at the thread... lol.
