I believe the best way to use a 5th wheel in the 3rd gens is with a gooseneck hitch and gooseneck to 5er adapter. I don't know how well the composite bed would hold up to traditional 5th wheel hitch; I know that Decked won't (or didn't) allow you to mount their bed slide in the composite bed, though I'm sure there are workarounds for that such as sammiching the slide mounts with steel plate.

B&W makes a 3rd gen setup utilizing their turnover ball gooseneck hitch and companion 5th wheel adapter. There are several other manufactures that produce goosneck to 5th wheel adapters that work well. Andersen makes a lightweight unit, for example. A friend of mine uses a gooseneck to 5er adapter in his duramax and it works well for him.

    Gooseneck hitch:

    5er kit with gooseneck hitch:

I don't know what is available to you in the great white north.

Thanks for the information. I think I'll end up going that route.

What trailer are you planning to pull?

Look up it's pin weight and then look in the door jamb of your tundra at your payload. Odds are you'll be over payload with any 5th wheel and probably even gooseneck.
