It is. I've been in the sport for over 30 years. Dam almost 40 now. Time flies. What I like about the E bike is how I can regulate my heart rate to stay in a certain zone without blowing up. This is hard to do with a regular bike IMO without stopping a lot. With the E bike you can keep spinning and use the bike to stay in the zone. I still have a hard tail and love that thing but the E bike has really helped my fitness.

IMG_7972.jpg Took a ride through town to a mountain to look for turkey sign. I found some. There’s a few woods roads to explore. But I found out I’m out of shape. :(

Wish e-bikes were around back when I was really into hunting. Great way to access “walk in only” areas and get away from the crowds

I agree. But in PA, E-bikes are illegal on some state forest roads and gamelands roads where motorized vehicles are prohibited. Because E-bikes have a “motor”.

Are there different classes of e-bikes that would be allowed? In WA, pedal assist e-bikes are allowed in most areas, where a twist throttle style ebike is not

Here’s what I found for riding a bike/ e-bike in PA. Looks like ya gotta do some research before driving to a place to ride in the woods. IMG_7981.png IMG_7982.png

Definitely worth a look if it could save you a 5 mile hike.

kinda funny they mentioned no ebike charging stations available on ebike trails, lol

I upgraded the old pedals. I ended up going with the Raceface Turbine’s. The first thing I feel is they are hella grippy, which I’m a fan of. The next thing I noticed, which is the greatest upgrade to flats ever, is the two-way concave. It adds grip of course, but the more noticeable thing is that it creates a feeling of where my feet need to be. I can position my foot in the proper place without looking down finally. Mint!

I also got our daughter a full size! X-small 2013 Range with a 2x10 transmission. This 27.5” fits my 11 year old great, and is a perfect bike to learn on :D

Recently swapped my Fox 36 and Float X for a Rock Shox Lyrik Charger 3.1 and a Vivid Coil Ultimate. Without a doubt worth every single penny. The small bump sensitivity of the Rock Shox stuff is drastically better while not blowing though the travel. Also I think the red looks sick.

Which damper did you have on the 36?

2023 Grip 2 Damper. I don’t think the damper was bad, but I think the chassis was what was lacking. RockShox uses a machined crown instead of a cast crown and has larger bushings in the fork, which makes the chassis stiffer so the damper can do the work instead of the fork flexing and binding. At least that’s how I see the difference between the two forks. I think the new generation of 36 solves the problems I had.

Used to be heavy into Bikes.
Worked in bike shops for years, raced BMX and had a full ride from Robison.
Even gotta race in the Astrodome.
Then it was Mountain Bikes followed by road bikes.
Had a Carbon Fiber Fuji that I Loved!!!!
It was Crazy how light that thing was!!!!
Now that my left hip is screwed after being replaced those days are pretty much over.
Apparently I jacked up the cartilage from riding so much and it wouldnt regenerate anymore.
I really miss it,it was easy to keep the extra pounds off doing something you really enjoyed.

It was one of the first Mountain bikes out there.
Nothing fancy,no suspension just triple butted Chromoly with a high end Gruppo.

Actually found a pic of the Fuji.
Wish I would have kept it,Working in a bike shop I'll never be able to buy another for what I paid for it.
Of course If I was serious about riding again that wouldnt be an issue.
The fingertip shifters behind the brake levers were SWEET!!!
All it took was a slight tap to shift!!
It even had carbon fiber cranks.

Bikes have gotten Crazy as far as the tech goes.
Looking back at my younger years working in Bike Shops and racing the kind of stuff they have now is like science fiction.

    Thats pretty slick!!
Looks like a high end version of a City Bike.
City Bikes were real popular when they first came out.
Used to sell a Shitload of em!!!
They were a giant leap from the old fuddy duddy bikes our parents rode in both looks and function.

We used to ride our Mountain Bikes in Memorial Park here in Houston.
There's some fantastic trails that run along Buffalo Bayou so there were lots of elevation changes.
One section was called the Fruit Loop.
Found out exactly how it got its name one day.....
Came around a corner to see two dudes one of which was on his knees....you get the picture.
They didnt even bat an eye and kept at it as we rode by.

    Nice!

I guess I am just a glutton for punishment riding fixed in the mountains for the most part, do ride full squish as well but love fixed gear track bikes, they just seem to fit.

I just recently switched my Fox 36 to a Fox 38, because the Fox 36 was sooo f'n harsh. Big difference in the small stuff.
I did a lot of learning about Fox coming setup very poor from the factory, bushings being too tight, too much grease in the air chamber, wrong fork fluid heights etc. etc.
I had the suspension guy also tear apart the new 38 before putting it on and sure enough, the air chamber was blocked with grease and the fork fluid was way off.
I have no doubt my 36 was probably the same.

    Lots of stuff!
I had this exact frame in 56cm. It was my first carbon road frame. I put Shimano Ultrega/600 STI on it. Then after a crash I swapped out the forks with 3T carbon forks just in case there was hidden damage. I sold it to a buddy who still has it but it hangs in the garage. He rides his LOOK carbon 675 now so this one collects dust.

Yup, I've heard that as well. Seems so insane to me that Fox has that as such a common problem and forks are STILL being delivered like that.

It's not so much the gruppos it's the materials used these days.
They've made huge leaps in that regard!!
When I first started riding there was no such thing as carbon fiber frames.
When I had my first encounter with Carbon Fiber I had serious doubts about the durability.
And was right to be concerned in the early years.
Delamination was a serious issue back then.
Once they got passed that it was nothing but amazing!!!
