Gonna guess it wouldn't be the one with 22" wheels, rubber band tires, and a white leather interior.

Probably not the one with the same suspension setup as a logging truck that would shake everything loose on the truck...

I like how you second gen guys have to pick the most obscure scenarios to somehow suggest the 2nd gen is a better truck.

One can tell this man doesn't use his truck for truck thongs.

I just want a truck with truck things only. I dont need 'Lexus acoustic glass'.

I wouldn’t dare say the second gen is a better truck than a third gen. The earlier gens of Tundra had proven reliability going for them. But tech? Comfort? 3rd gen has them beat easily. What OP chooses should reflect the priorities.

    Are those like "truck nutz?"

Is that what the manly-men (that use their trucks for "truck things") are putting on trucks now? :D

    Pics please.

Also...curious what truck things my truck is not capable of that I might need buy a 2 / 2.5 Gen in order to accomplish them?

What is the definition of "truck thongs"?

By the way, the only reason I have a truck is to tow and have a 4WD vehicle in the driveway in the winter. Fits my requirements perfect. It can do truck work when needed.

when you need less payload, less towing, less torque, less gears, less HP, less MPG towing, no auto level, no two tow/haul modes.

    that work?

I think there must be varied levels of comprehension, so I must elaborate:

I was mainly speaking about interior. I dont need smart TV from Walmart in my center console area. I want dials and buttons that I can push and turn. I dont want to navigate through menus to access my air conditioner functions. Look at this for example, those buttons are made for California bun with princess fingers:

    image-25.jpg

I need this: look at it! Steering console shifter for 3 seats in the front and those ac controls can be easily dialed with gloves on!

    f4bceeff-0ac7-4219-8236-114f16f4f130.png

Intuitive, big and beautiful! Easy to access during hi stress maneuvering without even looking! A quick glance and you know where everything is!

Just the simple things like start every morning, or turn around in a small parking lot without doing a K turn. Hit a deer without totaling the truck. Close your tonneau cover with a cooler or other materials inside with the deeper bed. Drive over an offroad obstacle without an atrocious approach angle from a plastic bumper that will rip off and total it. Any task involving tow hooks. There are things. That said, there are car things the 3rd gen does better than the 2nd gen for sure. I find it best to have a car for car things and a truck for truck things. Everyone has a different use case though I guess.

I thought the same about the 3rd gen HVAC controls based on pictures.

It's very easy to operate without looking, a quick glance and you know where it all is, and the toggle switches would be easily operable with a gloved hand.

Also, if you're in "high stress maneuvering" you probably shouldn't be fucking about with any controls beyond controlling the vehicle.

they have a 3" TRD lift with road package with locker and crawl and better tow hooks availalbe then any tundra has ever had though?

I can close my tonneau perfectly fine with a large cooler

and why is it "car things" the only thing the 3rd gen can do better?

just say you don't like it and move on, we all know that with you anyways, that's totally fine, but you don't have to make up silly things like 3rd gen is good for car things only.

I always reach for my A/C controls and and bring the temps down a notch when I'm taking an exit ramp at 90MPH, drifting like Brian O'Conner.

Yes, comprehension, of course. I'm sorry you have such difficulty with modern technology, it's really quite simple.
That big, round one there, you turn that. All the other ones next to it? Those you push. See? It's easy.

California bun? I know there's a restaurant in LA with that name....maybe you mean man bun?
Not happening with as little hair as I have. Working on the princess fingers though.... the calluses aren't doing me any favors.

    Enjoy your interior from 2002.
    Good day sir.

I would rather go aftermarket on basically all of those OEM options. A locker that only works in 4low? Lame. A 4,000 dollar 3” lift kit? No thanks. Why, to preserve a warranty that you only need because it’s an unreliable vehicle to begin with? Crawl control? What a gimmick.

I think you had to go aftermarket for all of those if you wanted them on your truck didn't you?

What does that have to do with anything? He brought them up as supposed advantages, not me.

Because you mentioned them as negatives saying you’d rather go aftermarket. The point is your truck required aftermarket where gen 3 owners were able to have it dealer installed.

Exactly right. I had a 3rd gen loaner and I was like, where the fuck is everything? I had to pull over and figure how to work these tinny buttons just to get the AC going. I have sausage fingers

I guess if those dealer installed options are the exact options you want at a price you want to pay, then yes that’s just perfect for you. I’d rather buy aftermarket and use my Locker in 2wd, 4hi, or 4lo with no speed restrictions at my own discretion because I’m not a child. Actually, I don’t even want a locker for how I use my truck. Heck I prefer a helical gear LSD for superior traction on the wet and snowy roads VS a strictly one wheel peel OR fully locked in 4lo option. I’d also rather pay 1,500 dollars and select from a range of excellent suspension products available for these trucks in the aftermarket than an expensive to replace $4,000 Toyota lift.

No, please understand correctly. Stuff like driving through new york or in traffic I consider stress zone. Very difficult to concentrate on many things. Adjusting AC is one less thing I have to worry about when driving through congested zones.

Don't get me wrong, I like technology, I got power locks and windows, but some things dont need to be made more complicated than they already are, just for the sake of progress.

lol, you gen 2 guys don't disappoint here, one already got banned and the rest are bitching about additional options and features and now we have the winner of ......

the AC button isnt easy enough to figure out when your driving in stressed situations.

and all of this makes 3rd gen a car not a truck.

we all get it now :burp:

You know, I don't know which group is worse any more: the useless millennials, or the boomers slowly turning into them.
