I’ve read a bunch of posts on suspension lifts but still have a few questions.

I want to raise truck up slightly, 2”, to fit 295/70/18 on my stock 2021 wheels.

I’m planning on going with the 6112’s but not sure what shims are for. Some use them and some don’t. How will I know if I need them?

also, will the rear 5100’s give me any more height in the back or would I need to swap shackles? I don’t mind the truck being level.

trying to get away with only what I would need to raise up. I also see some people replace upper control arms. What is the benefit of swapping?

Shims can add that extra 1/2” of lift someone is looking for. Or they can be used asymmetrically to correct “Tundra lean”.

Thanks. Is the lean only when lifted or stock too?

Caused by the gas tank, the driver, the steering wheel and instruments, and in many Toyotas, the battery, all on the left side of the truck.

The shims usually give the front additional 1/2" to account for the driver side lean. The rear 5100 does not provide any lift. You don't need to change UCA with only 2" lift, usually only when you go over 3".

    Thanks!
If I wanted an inch more in the back would the 5100 allow for that? And would replace shackles?

No. The rear shocks don't provide lift. They have some that are designed for lifted vehicles but they are just longer, they don't provide lift.

So you need to keep the shackles that give you lift.

just so you know, you won't have to do anything to the rear suspension of the truck if you don't want and the truck will just look level if you leave it at the 2" height you're aiming for.

The 5100 rear itself will not lift at all. But they will accommodate a lift up to about 1" You will need to change shackles, add a block, or new leaf springs to lift.

But like others have said. If you lift 2" in front it will be close to level. If you want to add more rake, then lift the rear.

Thanks. It’s it more common to level or put the rear up an inch?
