    Hello everyone,

the great debate, which tire do you prefer?

Toyo Open Country AT3 vs. Falken Wildpeak AT4W?

give your reasons why, post pics too!

Talking 35’s here. Had Toyo AT2’s, didn’t like ‘em, especially in wet conditions. Don’t know about the AT3’s, since my next set, currently running, are Nitto Recon’s. I’ve enjoyed them, but soon I’ll need a new set, and based on reviews, going with the Falken AT4’s in 35x11.5x17. One of the cool things about the Falkens in this size is that they are true 35” tires. I hope this helps!

I prefer the Falkens over the Toyo myself.

Toyo's were terrible on wet roads.

35x11.50r18 Falkens here. Had them just over a year now and no regrets. Quiet, hardly any wear, seem to handle everything you throw at them petty well. This is my first time running Falkens and I’m impressed.

I’ve had noting but great experience with my AT3 tires but I also have traction bars so. That is a variable I didn’t consider before

I have the Falken, as well. They have been great for me on both dry and wet pavement. Haven't had them in the snow yet. No regrets for sure. Mine are SL rated 285/65-18.

    Lots of stuff!
Falken At4w's get so-so reviews in the snow. I have them on my 1 ton truck now and they are good in the rain and relatively quiet on the highway. I like the looks with the sidewall treads (a bit more aggressive looking) but don't plan on doing any serious off-roading of rock crawling.

I had Toyo At3's on my Tundra and they were noisier than I liked. The Toyo's were crap in the snow but the truck box was empty expect for about 400 lbs of covers and racks. I just sold them with about 2,500 miles on them.

I have a set of Falken At3's on the Airstream. I put these on only because the Airstream is a single axle (I wouldn't use these tires if it was a dual axle due to sheer forces). I do notice a bit more rolling resistance as the tire temps go up a bit higher (by a few degrees) than the Goodyears while running. I like the deep treads and sidewall stiffness. The trailer feels more planted than with the ST tires.

I road the Falkens and they couldn’t balance well. Gonna swap out to AT3s and see if they make a difference in 10 ply.

I'm currently running the Nitto Ridge Grapplers in 35 and have no complaints. There is very slightly highway noise but i was expecting worse to be honest.

It’s always interesting the differing opinions on things. I’ve found the Toyos to be excellent in the snow. They also rated extremely well in the winter testing the Tire Rack did.

Many have said toyos are better in rain, others say Wildleak. I had a bad experience with the Falkens and couldn’t get them to balance and replace 2 pairs and still vibration. Looking forward to see what Toyo can do.

    I just don’t want a noisy tire

Ran the Toyos on my 2014 Sequoia and found them to be great all around including rain and snow. I’m a fan.

It surprises me how many love or hate the two brands. Same with opinions on wet traction or snow.

how many miles do you have in them?

    loud at all?

I was debating the same thing - TOYO or FWP AT4. I went with TOYO due to size & weight (TOYO AT3 35x12.5x17 Load Range C/ 59lbs; FALKENs 35 x 12.5x17 Load Range E2 68lbs) I really like the TOYO AT3s. They are not noisy at all and save a fair amount of weight. I have only done light trails and a little sand so not sure how C load will hold up when wheeling properly. Previously had Nitto G2s and Mickey ATZs. TOYOs have been my favorite.

    Lots of stuff!
In my case comparing Toyo 295/70/18 E load vs Falken 295/70/18 E load, the Falkens are 6 lbs heavier which can make a big difference in acceleration and that will eat up any fuel economy!

I would consider these 2 tires to be very similar in all aspects.

When we got the new (to us) truck, I had them put new tires on it and since I already tried the Toyos, I figured I would try the Falkens. Got all 5 tires replaced at that time.

    Only ran Falkens.
Had Wildpeak AT3W on my 4Runner got a shake at around between 53-58mph. Assuming it was a balance issue, never chased it. Just drove under it over those speeds.

Have AT4Ws on my Tundra and have had no issues yet but only about 300miles on them. Was told by Discount Tire that they are balancing better than the AT3Ws were and they haven’t had issues with them.

If anything starts to happen with the AT4Ws then I’m going Toyo for the replacement.

I've run At2's on my 100 and 200 builds.... and have 325/65's At3's on the wife's truck - they're one of the few speed rated options (109mph) and just mounted up a set of 37" AT3's for the Tundra..... I agree for hardcore offroad the sidewall could be an issue - my use case is more about covering ground in all kinds of weather.... they balance out well and run smoothly.... and do decent in the snow... I did run Duratrac's this winter as I ahd a lot of northern travel and they are amazing.... and the gen 2 is a lot more stable and quieter.

can't wait to get the lift on next week and mount these up....

I found the Toyos to be noisier but it could be the truck and the lighter insulation in the Tundra. I think the GM is quieter mainly due the extra few thousand pounds of truck and it has the Falkens. So probably the same if they were on the same truck.

I remember the Toyos making a bit of a rhythmic sound on the highway.

Rainy traction seems okay but I never pushed it with either tire.

We got the Falkens last November with the GM and never really got any significant snow so not much to say about the snow traction. I have read some other reviews saying that they weren't great in the snow.
