    Too many, but not enough....
I think only SR, SR5 and MAYBE Limited are the only ones that have halogens

IIRC, I think all Limited trims are LED.

Recall states “under some conditions if high beams are repeatedly left on for an extended period while vehicle is idiling or driving @ low speed, there’s a possibility the BULB CONNECTOR could overheat” Who on earth drives like that, except the idiots behind me @ a red light w/ their high beams on!

so did the recall back in 2022. Converted halogens to pro LED with the ihacker cable. Now I have an intermittent issue with my passenger headlight. Ihacker mentioned to me about water getting in the relay box. Sure enough there was water in the relay box. Toyota wouldn’t touch my truck due to the fact that it had been modified(Florida). It is a horrible design I also made a video, but can’t post that here. I will be talking with Toyota about some reimbursement hopefully on the parts that I have to buy.
my fix for this is since the water infiltrated through the cables straight into the box I’m going to seal that so that water will not get in there. I also I’m going to seal the cover and tire wrap so there’s no leakage there as well. The driver side had no cover on it for whatever reason and it’s dry as a bone so that was interesting. Hopefully this fixes my problem so I could have my headlights back.

How bad did they hack up your harness when they did the recall? I have seen some that were pretty bad. To this day I will not let them do the recall on mine. I have Morimoto Leds anyway. I wouldn't even waste time with reimbursement. They will deny it repeatedly.

They did a pretty tidy job of getting into the harness and all that I was happy with it. I don’t like though the water seeping down through the wires and getting into the box. I think that’s gonna be a problem no matter what I do to try to seal it so I may move the box with the wires, pointing down and seal it that way. I haven’t had any issuesuntil I just drove cross country and it started on the to Florida. Haven’t had much rain out here yet, but still, I think it had been in there for at least a while to rot out that relay like it did. That relay was a mother to get out. The other side like I said was missing the cover and it’s bone dry and works just fine so I don’t know. I mess with Toyota because knowing I get nothing but the satisfaction of talking to an engineer and asking him why. That’s all I wanna know is why.

Filed the case and they actually want my receipts for the repair to cover the cost. They’re still running it through their system, but I didn’t even think that would happen. We’ll see if they actually do it though.

    Did you install aftermarket LEDS?

No I installed the Toyota LEDs years ago. Back in 22 I took it in for a service(CA) and they told me I had this recall and they needed to do it not realizing it had anything to do with the halogen lights. If they were keen on the issue, they would’ve realize I didn’t need the recall because I had converted to LEDs.
That’s what happened with this issue.
The dealer here(FL) didn’t want to touch it because they didn’t do the modification for the recall. The best they could do was tell me the headlight was bad. I had already checked that out with a new set of headlights to be sure what the problem was, but they weren’t having it.
I just got the last relay yesterday. I’m waiting on the box cover that’s missing and then I can install permanently and seal everything up.
When I was at the dealership picking up the parts I went in and talked to the service tech that helped me out and showed him the results. He was actually blown away.

Gotcha. I'm in Fl too. The dealer keeps wanting to do the recall on mine and I wont let them. I installed Morimotos so I don't need it. I filed a claim for reimbursement since I had proof or purchase before the recall and it was denied 4 times. They pick and choose who they want to reimburse. I called them out on it too. They were paying people that purchased LEDs after the recall was issued which was completely against the conditions that they wrote.

Huh, this explains the condition of my wiring harnesses when I swapped in my LEDs. Mine definitely didn’t look factory. I cleaned it all up and put in loom while I was installing the ihacker harness. The mystery was low key itching in my mind though. ;)

Final follow up. Just received a check from Toyota for $176. They covered the two new relays and sealant to watertight the boxes that hold both of them. So far so good. Mildly surprise, but they followed through.
