    Hello all

In the market for new all terrain tires. I tow once a year or so. Off road maybe the same lightly. Mainly a pavement princess.

Any suggestions that are quiet and comfortable?

thanks for any advice you could share!

I have the Firestone Destination ATs, bought from Costco and they have been great for a pavement princess. My truck spend last year doing a lot of commuting so I put these on and I was more then impressed with how quiet they were compared to my K02s (mine weren't loud in my opinion) but the Destinations are quieter. I have 30k miles on the Destinations and they have been great in all conditions (dry, damp, wet roads, bit of water on roads, cold and slightly icy roads too). They are a highway AT so they don't have an aggressive tread but they have done everything I've asked.

yeah, I like something quiet but with a nice side wall cosmetic. Do you tow with them?

Towed only once but I've had the bed fully loaded many times (mulch, dirt, etc) and they have been fine.

I am very happy with my Toyo Open Country AT3's. Much quieter than expected, not a lot of weights were needed to get them balanced, they ride awesomely smooth.
285/75r17 load C (6ply). I haven't tested them out in the dirt yet, as I just installed them less than a week ago.

Mine too. I switched to bigger, E rated A/Ts. Mostly for looks since like you I'm mostly highway. Hate the ride and going to put my P series Michelins back on.

Yeah, I don’t tow all the time and just want something that is cosmetically aggressive sidewalk but I just drive on roads 98% of the time.
Les Schwab, in my area, has a tire called the Open Range AT Plus that has good reviews. Probably will go with a P rated tire. That or Falkens in P.

I drive a lot on the highway and don’t want to deal with excessive noise. My last Falkens had a slight hum I didn’t care for.

The Michelin LTX A/T2 is a very hard tire to beat if you are looking for a great tire on the road that maintains decent looks and acceptable off-road performance.
These are factory with the TRD Off Road package. I have owned several sets in the Standard Load configuration and really like them. They are good for about 45,000 miles on these trucks.

This last time I went with a Load Range E version of the LTX A/T2. They are excellent as well. In the 275/65R18 size the LR E tire has a significantly deeper tread than the standard load. They do not ride quite as good, they are not as quiet as the Standard Load but they work very well. I am hoping for better than 45,000 miles on these.

I have had a couple of sets of the LTX M/S over the years. This is hands down the best light truck tire on the market. They excel on dry, wet and light snow. Unless you want to off-road or drive in deep snow. It is marginal off-road, in deep snow and looks like a grandpa tire :) These will run north of 60,000 miles on a Tundra.

For my next set I think that I am going to try the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo. They have a new version coming out this year and it will available in a standard load configuration. I am disappointed with what the extra six pounds per tire have done to my ride. I have had a set of these in the past and really liked them as well.

A note on my wear comments above. I do not run tires very low on tread. If they are at all questionable going into snow season they get replaced. A set of tire is WAY less expensive than a trip into the ditch or worse....

A couple of other things to keep in mind:
    - Weight of the tire will change the ride of your truck.
    - One pound of rotating weight is like adding three pounds to your truck anywhere else. Acceleration and braking will be affected.
    - Bigger tread blocks will be noisier than small.
    - There is no substitute for open tread off-road.
    - There is not substitute for a lot of siping for good on-road and rain performance.
    - Snow performance is a product of tread compound. A hard compound will not do as well in the snow.

    Happy hunting.

Maybe check out the Nitto TerraGrappler G3: aggressive sidewall but hopefully quiet tread. I don’t have them but they were on my shortlist earlier this year, along with Bridgestone Dueler Ascents and Nokian Outpost NAT’s. I went with the Nokians which are more aggressive but still very quiet and checked all the boxes for me. I’d wager the Ascents and TerraGrappler G3’s are a touch quieter.

I'm on my second set of Cooper Discoverer AT3's. These are E rated, so excellent grip in snow and ice. They also last beyond the 40k mile rating. They are quiet, and didn't get louder with age that I noticed.
Cooper was purchased by Goodyear a couple years ago, and the Discoverer has been redesigned. There should still be some of the previous generation on the racks to be had or ordered. The new ones may be really good too, they look more aggressive. I just haven't tried them. IMG_2398.jpg

I went with the Nitto TerraGrappler G3 and have really enjoyed them! No road noise and great traction here in central Texas. This is coming from a Ridge Grappler where I didnt like how they performed in wet conditions. Not to mention 2 different sidewall options if that is of interest.

I also ran two sets of Cooper AT3’s (XLT and then just LT’s, which were the same carcass per Cooper, just a different sidewall aesthetic) and found them to be great, quiet tires. Unfortunately, Goodyear ax’d that line and replaced it with the Stronghold in LT flavor, and the Road +Trail in p rated. From reports here on the forum and elsewhere, the stronghold is an entirely different tire, and not necessarily in a good way. Still robust, but doesn’t have the magic of the AT3’s.

I just replaced worn out Falken AT3Ws with Bridgestone Dueller Ascent, P load rating stock size (265/70/18). only about 1200km on them. They are quiet, likely not as quiet as some Michelins, but quieter than the falkens, and did pretty good on their first off road trial run.

Vredestein Pinza AT: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/vredestein-pinza-at Have it on my vovo. Will be replacing Michelin LTX A/T2 on wife's Sequoia with Pinza when time comes.

My Tundra sees log roads, it needs a real LT tire. General Grabber A/TX, that it has, are quieter than BFG KO2.

No mention of the Yokohama Geolandar A/T4...? These are what I'm leaning towards here in a few months to replace the Nitto Ridge Grapplers on the truck.

G015 has no lateral (side to side) grip on gravel and in snow. A lot of spooky moments, the last one ended in a very bad crash. Not sure if they fixed it in A/T4, but be aware.

On this truck i've been through Goodyear Duratracs, BFG AT KO2's and run Toyo AT3's. Truthfully road noise between them wasn't noticeably different but of the 3 i'd only buy the AT3's again. They're just a better tire than the others listed

Real happy with the Toyo AT3's. A bit more road noise than the Michelins they replaced but not too loud, I don't hear them with music playing.

Tow very well, though my trailer is fairly light @ 5,500 lbs.

Traction off road is impressive, even without airing down from 50+ psi towing pressure.

I have Cooper Discoverer Road + Trail AT. I really like them. Great looking and much less road noise than my BFG KO2. I can't say if the Cooper tires will last as long but they're very nice. The KO2 tires lasted almost 90k miles though so they definitely held up well.

    2024 Platinum Hybrid
Weld 20x9, Toyo 285/60, RC N3 level, ceramic tint
+1 for Toyo Open Country AT3... easy to balance, smooth ride, looks great, not too loud.
