Get the crewmax and an 8 ft trailer. You'll have 13 ft space for hauling like that

Thanks, everyone. I'll always keep my eyes open. I'll consider it if the right deal presents itself.

agreed on the bed extender. Here is my crew max with 16 foot 6x6's and 12 foot 2x4's. I tied everything down right and it made the trip no problem. It can also be flipped up to be used as a ladder rack.

it doesn't matter it you have a 5.5 or 6.5 bed either way the tailgate is down for 8 foot lumber. I find the cab space gets used a lot more than the bed space.

Unless your hauling lumber or something dirty you can always use the cab for luggage. That is how i saw it when i bought my crewmax. I could stack suitcases to the celing and still have the bed for the rest of the stuff.

Just an update. Baby #2 has been here for 5 weeks and my oldest son is now forward facing. Not sure the double cab was my best choice. I have a pretty small rear facing seat (Keyfit) behind me (so I can use the Latch) and I can't have my seat back where I normally have it.

My son is forward facing and his feet are rubbing all over the passenger seat. My wife gets in there a lot to make sure the newborn is ok and to pump when we're out and about. I have to remove the Chicco let her hop in then put it back in. Not to mention all of the baby crap.

Oh well. Such is life. I could be in a RAM.

Could be worse. I have an AC with a 14, 11, and 4 year old. Had to put the car seat in the middle. No more wife so the 14yo sits up front.
