    Hello all!

Is this a tire mark on OEM wheels to help mount the red dot or “high point” on the tire?

Thank you much, dealing with a vibration issue.

The yellow dots identify where a tire weighs the least — the lightest point on a tire. The yellow dot should be lined up and directly next to the valve stem, which is the wheel’s heaviest point.

The red dots identify where the tire is flattest — the lowest point on a tire. The red dot should be directly across from the highest point of the wheel, which is usually indicated by a colored dot or a notch on the wheel.

I've seen techs actually line up the yellow dot, but most folks have no idea what the red dot means :notsure:

All my yellow dots are lined up with valve stem, vibration felt in steering wheel at 60-65mph.

Was thinking of having them road force tested.

Do you see a notch in my OEM wheel to match the red dot with?

Most OE Toyota wheels are marked with a white dot in lieu of a notch... So, yes you'd like up the white dot on the wheel to the red dot on the tire, which takes priority over the yellow dot being lined up w/the valve stem.

If the tires are new, I'd take them back to the shop where you purchased and make them fix it by re-balance, spinning the tires, or ultimately replacing the culprit if one tire in particular is the source. This happens sometimes, and I wouldn't want to fight balancing issues over the life of the tire.

I've got the same style of wheel on my '08 that were take offs from a '21 OR, so I'll look later and verify they are using white dot on them...

Also, just know that sometimes the wheels are not marked from the manufacturer.

    Thank you!

I have an apt in a couple days with tire shop to road force balance. I’m gonna deep clean my wheel too and remove old residue and mud.

If after road force balance and still have vibration, you need to identify which tire is the culprit by process of elimination. I see they are falken at tires. I have the same tires and vibration issue at same speed. All 4 balance fine and showed up fine on the machine. I had to swap tires front to back until i found 1 bad tire. This 1 bad tire balance fine on machine but was defective. The shop exchange for a new one and problem solved.

^^ This is what you need to do. Find somebody that really knows how to run the balancer. Pay attention to the amount of force you end up with on each tire - look for 26 lbs or less. Also, lots of weight to achieve balance on a particular wheel not a good thing. Large, less expensive tires can exhibit more variability. Finally, you might want to download this little app, run it on your truck and see what it indicates about tire balance vs rotor thickness variation...

I did get the sheet for the initial spin and weight balance. 1 tire needed 4.75 oz and the rest only needed 2-2.75 oz. Maybe that higher weight one is the culprit?

Perhaps. The Road Force Balance should tell the tale. You need to make sure they are dismounting the tire and indexing it to try and achieve the best balance. That all takes time so it is a question how far the Tech is ready to go. The machine gives you a lot of info if you have the patience, time and knowledge to use it. In some cases, it will identify tires that are not in spec and should be replaced. Tire stores and manufacturers don't really like to hear that.

Yeah, I figured with how much I paid it should be a smooth ride. I’ll make sure to ask them all of that.

Would 1 wheel lock per tire cause a balance issue?

No - those are big wheels and big tires. Wheel lock not going to cause an issue.

Ok cool, I work in a bad area of town unfortunately so I didn’t want to remove if not needed.

I did weigh them against the stock OEM lugs and weigh about .25 oz more than stock lugs.

One more question, can left over wheel weight adhesive cause a imbalance?

I can remove the adhesive if you all think it would help/detail the wheels?
