I am a bit scrambled tonight. Crap sleep two nights running, and everything at work went sideways-ish for stupid or weird reasons.

Definitely not on my A game.

Looking for some shady internet medical advice.

Left thumb to pointer finger has almost no grip strength, going on 3-4 weeks. Holding a cup of coffee in a 10oz paper cup isn't possible right now. Pain is at the base of my thumb only when trying to grip or hold things.

I'm thinking some type of tendonitis/ arthritis/ inflammation. It's not getting any better and getting old quick.

    That sucks.

Timing is odd though. Literally two weeks ago I learned from a coworker that there's two kinds of carpal tunnel issues. Obviously one is not called carpal tunnel, but it's the same kind of thing. Carpal Tunnel is just for the pointer, middle finger, and thumb and the other one is for the other two fingers.

Anyway, that sounds like carpal tunnel issues.

DON'T GET SURGERY! Go to a licensed massage therapist first, because they can work that band that is compressing the nerve and get it to loosen up without surgery. If you get surgery they basically just cut a chunk out of the middle of that band to give relief, but that results in scar tissue and it's super common for it to come back, but then you have carpal tunnel AND scar tissue fucking it up and surgery isn't an option the second time.

Surgery is def a last resort. I've been limiting use and trying to let it heal, no luck so far. Might look into a brace

I just opened a bottle of water and couldn't use my thumb holding the bottle or switching hands and holding the cap. I had to grip the bottle between my palm and 4 fingers. :annoyed:

Not using it is not necessarily going to heal it. It should prevent further issues, if it's carpal tunnel, but getting it treated is going to likely be faster and more effective.

Obviously, you do what is right for you, but that's likely a nerve issue and left untreated it can get out of hand quickly. No pun intended.

    This.

I greatly prefer NOT being around today's society.

    up @ 3am
    down @ 7pm.

in that time period, I do what it takes to provide.

    and work out.

my new goal is to blow the dust off my Skeet skills.....it's been years.

I'm the guy that speaks without innuendo.

    y'all are the other guys.

and, let me tell you....spending more on a shotgun does NOT help.

    apparently, only practice matters.

    Re: RAS

I gave it a look see last night.

    I had to laugh.

    I will have:
    Caltrac traction bars
    Toyota Sway bar
    and
    Roadactive suspension.

I'm theorizing the traction bars will relieve the RAS of any axle wrap duties....and it will just do all the other advertised duties better.

    LOL

    All for the lulz, though.

I partially agree. The skill from practice needs to be there, but low quality gear can diminish the returns. You're correct that an unskilled shooter such as myself is not likely going to improve with a gun upgrade, but a skilled shooter can he hamstrung with poor kit.

There's usually a bottleneck on the performance and you just have to know if its the person or the equipment. 99% of the time it's the person, but there's that 1%.

But you can improve! It's legit kinda fun to not be a star at something you enjoy, because then as you improve you get to see the growth. So long as you don't have d-bags running you down for it and making it miserable.

awww...listen here.....the group that is at my range are like a herd of elephants.

once they see a new guy come in, they gather around to help.

it's a bunch of old dudes, that can talk primo shit.....in a very constructive way.

it's one of the few places where old school learning happens.

    and I'm thankful.

which, as I write this....is probably why I want to get back there.

    it's a healthy camaraderie.

Brown Hand Center in LV is one of the best if you end up needing a specialist...

However, you requested internet shady advice... So, here ya go!!!

I'd rely on my vet to guide me through these types of situations... Mobility issues are generally first addressed w/a burst (5-10 days), followed by a slow taper, of prednisone... and see if that gets things moving  Often times, it's enough to 'reset' whatever happened and then you (the dog) is good to go for a while.

If you don't like that advice, I'd seek care from a well-trusted chiropractor :hattip:
