Hi everyone, super close to pulling the trigger on a Ice Cap White Tundra as I can't seem to find any in Lunar Rock in my price range. But as a previous Tacoma Owner, I know Tacomas had peeling paint issues on the White paint around 2018-2021 if I recall. Does the Tundra suffer from this same issue?

My WCP has been holding up good for 9 months now but time will tell.

Personally I would stay clear of whites and especially metallic whites. Ive experienced peeling issues with white cars myself. And it is an issue across brands, not just toyota. Not sure of the reasons, but do some research and you will find white paint has been an issue with many auto brands.

My Crystal White Pearl on my 16 STI has been flawless, but I have paint protection film on it, the wind chill pearl Toyota uses is nice as well. These are tri coat processes though so I am sure the base whites could be different.

The wind chill pearl for the Tundra looks matte white in daylight and sliver hue at dusk.

I bought another white ‘23 in July. No issues at all. Easy to keep clean. My white 2016 Tacoma and a 2009 Corrola we had both started to peel at about the 6 yr mark and both were repainted by Toyota after a factory recall program at about 8yrs. I don’t care. They stay so much cooler in the Summer. You can’t keep your palm on any other color that’s been sitting in the sun all day. Lunar Rock and silver aren’t too bad.

I had an 08 Super White, but we all know Toyota screwed the pooch on that one. Nowadays who know what you will get with all these new EPA standards and crap they make manuf use to save the planet on vehicle at a time. I had a 2020 Lexus NX300 that had a pearl white color. It was a lease and it held up good for the 3 years I had it.

2 years now with my ice cap. No issue with peeling. Did find a lot of rail dust though. My second option was lunar rock too, but dealer was allocated white in specs I wanted.

I had a 2010 Tacoma for 14 years, Super White, no paint issues. My 2023 Tundra Ice Cap has not had any issues, but I don't drive it much and it is in a garage.

My 22 ice cap has held up pretty well. Only thing is that bugs really show up on the front end and I get a lot of brake dust/exhaust soot / dirt on the rear end. The latter is mostly due to +0 offset wheels, minus the exhaust soot.

That's not ice cap. That's windchill pearl. Completely different paint.

As far as durability and longevity goes, I think wind chill pearl would be better in the long run as it is a three stage paint whereas the ice cap is only two. Regardless, the best protection would be to ppf and ceramic coat it and don’t go through automated car washes

What? Ice cap is available and has been for years. What crack are you smoking?

The Capstone can't have it, but every other trim can be purchased in ice cap.

Also, you didn't have your Tundra "built." Toyota doesn't do special orders. Your dealership had an allotment in the right configuration and tailored the dealer options to your specs.

Took me almost a year to find a Ice Cap Hybrid Limited with the grey interior. Still cannot figure out why anyone would want a black interior. Just shows dirt like crazy.

NM, reread your post. The Black shows dirt like crazy. I wasn't that crazy about the grey interior on white, but it has grown on me.
