What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

No clue what it's from. Truck hasn't been near any fires and I noticed it a week or two ago.

 

Surprised @shifty` didn't catch these couple things.

Thanks for pointing this out. I'll see if I can move the ground, not sure why it was connected like that to begin with--just kept it that way when I got the new battery in. As for the other wire to the left, that's what I originally tried doing, but couldn't get that nut off the lug--its a bit rusted and on pretty tight. I tried a little PB blaster and to loosen it when I had the terminal disconnected from the positive post and couldn't get any leverage to crack it loose since it was floating (I think I tried it even connected after disconnecting the negative post as well).

 

How did all the TX boys loose a corner lens these past 2 weeks?

I bought those damn things a few years ago. Still haven't put them on yet. In fact, I can't even remember where the hell I put the damn things.

 

They look like they could also be good for snowboards to prevent boot slip coming off the lift.

 

Yanked the intake elbow out and tube to the fender out. Found the perfect solution.

No but it did look like it. “Body panel filler plug” looked nothing like the pics but hey it works haha

 

I drove mine a bunch today. At the moment, she's run about 200 miles on 1/2 tank of gasoline.

Actually I've driven it a bunch this week doing errands and not pulled the trailer once. Should pull the 18 footer tomorrow though, we have two new yards to mow. Wish me luck getting it to fit in the newest client's driveway!

I bought mine back in November 2019 from a seller on fleaBay out of Eugene OR who supposedly works/worked for a dealer. They still sell OEM parts too, are they legit? Who knows...

It's been 5½ years I've had these damn things and still haven't installed them. MEH.

 

Took 15 mins tops. Including 5-10 minutes of sun time to flatten them out.

 

I'm hunting them down during lunchtime today. I had some plans to touch up the sills on my driver side before installing, but I think I'm just going to cover over the scuffs with the stickers.

I'm tossing a few parts in a pile that should take less than 30min to install. Nilights for the shell, sill stickers, air filter. I've got a shedload of stuff going on this week but will try to at least tackle those three things. Air filter is unnecessary, but I think I'm gonna do it anyway.

 

Did the 100K service on my '03 yesterday. Did the normal 5K oil and filter, air filter, grease the driveline, checked all other fluids, rotated tires. In addition, I changed the spark plugs and installed new OEM LBJs. The spark plugs were original to the truck I believe. It still had the original

$4 Denso K20R-U Denso 3122 Spark Plug

Denso K20R-U which are no longer available. All of the gaps were .045-.050. The electrodes were pretty worn down. I installed NGK IFR6B-K Laser Iridiums. Interestingly when I went to drive it after, there was some hesitation going from stop to WOT. I'm assuming the ECU needs to "relearn" fuel and timing for the new plugs? The LBJs weren't loose, but they were losing grease at a pretty good rate. So it was only a matter of time. Not sure if they were original or not. They were replaced on the service campaign back in '06 at 30K. So they had 70K on them. Not terrible, and now I feel good about them for another 70-100K.

 

Nice. No timing belt? Or already done recently?

 

Ha! I also need to get off my ass and rotate the tires on the Highlander today.

Waiting on a deployment to finish, gitta get some invoicing knocked out to hopefully put some money in the bank, then go chase after my other client who's supposed to be opening a coffee shop in 9 days but hasn't given me any details on equipment he needs to install.

Did you not pull the negative battery cable?!

Any time you make any substantial change to spark/air/fuel, always pull the neg batt cable for 10 mins. Force a re-learn. You're typically not hurting anything by doing this, as long as your throttle body isn't dirty as hell.

Swapping to a hotter plug? Force re-learn.
Replacing fuel pump or injectors? Force re-learn.
Cleaning throttle body? Force re-learn.

Anything that will change flow of air, hotness of spark (even updating plugs with same model after 60k miles, I'd do it), fuel flow, air metering, upstream O2, etc.

 

Thanks @shifty` I forgot to do that. I'll get out there today and pull the cable. I did when I cleaned my throttle body and the difference in throttle response was noticeable.

 

And we’re all assuming those plugs came from a legit vendor, not the discount web brokers

 

Did the timing belt at 90K.
