Cat running around...

Although our damn bear is back... I was outside early in the night moving a few things around in the truck and heard a trash can thump across the street. That usually is just neighbors throwing some shit away or a cat jumping in and out of one left open, but nope!!!! Freakin' black bear is back crusin' the neighborhood for snacks

Freakin' things are kinda funny cuz they don't even try to hide in the darkness or anything. They just saunter down the middle of the road (street lights and all) like they own the place...

 

Damn neighbors with their giant oleanders are freakin' killing me

It's gonna be the (3) Bs tonight...

ehh... I try to be accommodating to creatures. He's a bit of nuisance at times w/the trashcan crap, but if folks simply don't put their cans out till the morning of pickup they will generally move on...

Allegedly, he's currently being tracked by ODFW and has a 'route' that's about 8 miles in diameter that he seems to cover each week looking for food.

We had a mom bear a few years ago that had cubs and that got a little dicey every once in a while when the cubs were exploring, cuz you didn't always see mom but knew she was hiding around the corner close by (and watching)....

Mom got killed on the 101 several months later, someone a few streets over ended up shooting one of the cubs a few months after that, and then the last young bear (who was at the time probably a late teen early adult in bear years ) ended up getting too bold and wandered into someone's garage and ended up getting shot...

I feel bad cuz they don't know any better. With that being said, they are dangerous, and you've got to be aware and careful at times...

but they are far less of a nuisance than a lot of people and still better to deal with than rattle snakes, tarantula hawks, scorpions, and fire ants

I don't have a phone when I travel internationally.

Or most times when traveling stateside. I travel to get away, not to stay connected. I actually leave it at home often during my regular life schedule. My first cell phone was purchased in 2008. My first smart phone in 2018. My current phone is an iPhone 6s. Im not the type that needs to be available. I would still prefer this to be my phone.

It gets worse, now employers seem to want every employee to walk around all day and night with a phone shoved up their ass in the case that they need something.

Boss was bothering me the other day about my voicemail not being set up. I wanted to say, "Correct, my voicemail on my phone is indeed not set up." I didn't say that though.

 

I know this game all too well. And I had to train my current ownership group to understand that I'm only available when I'm at work. Through direct voice to face communications. They get me now, but it was a bumpy start to our relationship to say the least.

 

We travel to get away as well.
But try getting an Uber, reservations, or ANYTHING else without a phone when traveling.
Plus, I keep pics of our passports and other ID on the phone in case they are lost or stolen.
It has nothing to do with being 'connected' or 'available'.
I don't even look at this forum on my phone..

But whatever works for you..
