clock spring

Well now I feel even dumber. I felt dumb for not remembering the SRS feature on my Innova, and that was the reason I bought it 5 or 6 years ago. And the reason for getting it was my dog. I know this isn't the place for this, but being old I hope you guys will forgive me. She was a huge Husky. She got to 90 pounds and had huge paws. If any of you ever had a Husky, you will know what I'm saying. Well When I would get pissed at her for doing some of the things she did. I would make her ride in the back seat, which she took up the hole thing. She would get pissed because she want to ride up front so she could watch where we where going. And To get even she would get her head and shoulder and one leg down in the foot well and shove her paw under my driver seat and rake the hell out of everything that she had shoved under there. It set off my seat belt light and I couldn't figure out why the light would go on and off when I had it on. The Innova pin pointed the problem and I was able to fix it. So in going over the stuff shifty posted, which I book marked for reference. I also printed out the info BabbaW posted for the same reason. I saw the wiring under the seat can cause the same problem. So I'm going to look under there in the morning. I also learned that all the yellow connectors are part of the SRS. Also the air bag sensors are near the radiator mounts under the hood and you can find them by the yellow connectors. So I have some looking to do in the morning. I also emailed the parts department from the dealer, asking to check to see if he sent me the wrong clock spring. He said to send him pictures of the old one. I did. It good when the dealer you bought you truck from is willing to work with you. I normally pick my parts up when over in the city their located in. But when I can't get their he sends them to me and doesn't charge me shipping. So thank you guy for the help I know you didn't have to help but did and I'm grateful.

 

Ok It time for the laugh of the week. I was out checking my truck. Checked the gas cap, found it wasn't completely tight. So tightened it three clicks. Then checked the vacuum hoses. All looked good. So the gas cap my have been the problem for the evap system code. Then got my old butt down on the ground and slide under the driver side to see how bad the 02 sensor was going too be to get to. Well Hells bells. Both nuts had rusted off and half of one stud as well. The $!#? 02 sensor was just part way setting in the hole. So now their was my 02 sensor problem and the laugh for the day. I also took a nap while under there to keep from getting up right a way. So laugh with me or at me, because that's what I'm doing. Till I can figure out how to get those bleeping rusted studs out and new ones put in.

 

A muffler shop can probably weld in a new bung.

 

Hey I mite be in luck. I found a 02 sensor mounting kit on line. Has any one use it? I guess I have to grind or cut off the old one and weld it on, I think. If so I think I can get a my small Mig touch up in there. Also the only place I found it on line is Had a in Washington state. It would take a few weeks to get here. Does anyone know of a shop on the east coast?

 

Ain’t laughing at anyone with same decade as me. These whooper snappers will go down that road to someday and understand.

 

If it weren't for the skeeters, I'd probably take a nap under my truck more often.

You can replace the studs that are currently there if I remember right. Was that @Jack McCarthy that's said that? I don't remember.
We don't hear of the studs breaking off often so make absolutely sure that they failed.

The nuts rusting off happens quite a bit. New M8 nuts will line you out on the ones without broken studs just be sure and clean up the threads.

 

Oh the studs are rust bad enough that theirs no threads left to clean. I have a ton of different types of stud removers. But not sure I won't break them off if I try removing them. My luck with removing old rusted studs Is the same as a minnow has being thrown into a tank full of piranhas. I will give it a try first though. To keep it in place till I get either new studs or that kit. I fell back on my days as a youngster working on my uncle's dairy farm on my summers off after school was out. Good old baling wire. Hey Babbage like I use to tell the youngsters when I taught martial arts and they said Arn't you getting a little old for that. Just remember I made it this far and you still gotta get here.

 

I'm sure an exhaust shop could get you lined out if you have a good one in your area anyway. I'm sure getting under the truck isn't doing you any favors. My grandfather is your age and we are slowly loosing him to dementia/alzheimer's, glad to hear your still out working on stuff and diagnosing/fixing your own stuff. I hope to be going good like you are one day.

 

Well Nick I'm of the opinion that I'm going to go some day, but it's not going happen sitting in a chair watching the boobtube. I don't get as much done each day as I use to but I do what I can. Right now, I have the truck to get ready for inspection. I cut out the deck in my center console boat and need to fiberglass a new one in. I'm also going to redo my console. I have 6 trees to cut down and cut up, and my shooting range in the woods needs some repair work do to erosion. But what I need to do is get my kayak out and go fishing. So I have to get the truck done to haul it. My wife gets pissed at me when I take my boat off shore fishing by my self. She says I'm to old to be 25 miles off shore by my self. But that's where the better fishing is. So I just point at the VHF Radio with the SOS button on it. And she just shakes her head and walks away. But she is happy the boats in parts right and I can't use it till it's done.
