What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

Your pads are shot. I would say they served their purpose. It's an anti rattle spring. It doesn't push the pads out

 

obviously lol, gonna change them next weekend when XL is open so I can get some power stop pads, had to put import direct on the rears because they were closed... and yeah I figured that out later, I always though it was to keep them from staying on the caliper

nothing like finding out you need pads right before you finish swapping your transmission and need to leave town lol

 

Swapped out the door courtesy lights for some custom puddle lights.

 

RCI hangs about an inch lower. Less ground clearance.

 

Are these LEDs? Where did you get them? Or did you make them?

 

What are yall using for brake pads? We used to use centric at the shop, but they started being low quality. I could get power stops but the carbon ones squeak so I was thinking of their ceramic, or Import Direct ceramic pads... PFA

 

I have those power stop ceramics and have zero complaints.

 

Swapped the transmission this past weekend, so far so good, temps are back down to 195-205°F and gas mileage went back up. Gotta fix an exhaust leak but other than that we’re back in business

yeah lol, I had to use one of our work tables to take the transfer case off, the thing is chunky... tranny probably weighs in the 200 lb range

 

I just put on Hawk green (heavy duty) pads and Frozen Rotors. Very happy with the result

 

it has a cut out for the oil filter. It does not cover the drain bolt.

 

Holy cow, $100-200 for pads? They better stop a freight train lol

but that’s super cool, I’ve started to see a lot of people talk about frozen rotors over the last couple weeks, I wonder how long it’ll be for them to become commercially available

 

They’re pricey for sure. A little more than OEM (aikibono or something like that). I bought “cheap” pads from O’Reilly’s for the sienna minivan and it was $140 front and rear. Both vehicles stop nicely. But with how bad the juddering was on the Tundra, I wanted to do everything I possibly could to prevent that recurring. Still, a whole hell of a lot cheaper than getting it done at the dealership!

 

LED and they're from Custom Puddle Lights, different choices to choose from too. Plug and play, simple swap...took over a month to get from China, but Customer Service was helpful.

I also just saw the price, I paid like $40 for LH and RH front sides, tariffs must have come into play now.

Installed Solid Offroad transmission mount to complement the engine mounts. Just to get as much power to the rear end as possible.

 

Big power losses from stock mounts?

I lowered my tailgate and giggled how smooth she droops. Almost motorized-like!

 

For most applications good condition engine mounts and transmission mounts are perfectly good. The flexing of the engine can cause some parasitic power loss. I'm just eliminating what I can. Plus it's a mod...who can resist modifying your Tundra?

should that only go behind leather seats? I was just gonna put the pads between my cloth seats and seat covers, figured that might be a fire hazard but if theyre being placed on the foam of the seats then?

 

Honestly I didn't look much into that. The heating pad is on top of the foam seat and heats upwards against the leather. No fires in 3 plus years. If I recall I think the heating element in the rostra is good for leather or cloth seats. Your install would be much easier and seems like it would be safe. Maybe an email or call to rostra would clarify though. They had good support when I bought mine and asked a bunch of questions
